Great movie and not just for kids. I especially liked the monkey voiced by Zach Braff. It was cool to see what they came up with for the back story of the wizard and the three witches.

OZ : Could Be Great,Could Be Powerful?

Do I get a refund? The colors are brilliant. It is visually powerful. But, the big drama is a cat fight between sisters? Not a compelling portrayal of the story. Was the projectionist asleep at the switch? The video stuck on four occassions. So, the moment was spoiled-- several times. And, the screening became an ordainary old dvd. It was just another film/movie and not a pleasant fantasy -- escape. That is why one pays to go to a theatre and extra for a 3-D event. It may be a home collection piece. Maybe, you could wait?

I am a big fan of the '39 movie, if they ever try to remake it, it will never compare. But i am also a big fan of the books written by L. Frank Baum. (not all the crazy ones that were written by others after he died) If you are a fan of the books, you will like this movie :) There are lots of little things taken from the books and trying to figure out what they are makes the movie that much more fun to watch! The scenery is beautiful, the baboons are scary & the witch is evil!!! What more could you want?! The 3D special effects are fun, if at times a little woozy making. It was very fun to watch. The story was good & i liked the dynamics between the 3 witches. On it's own, it's a great film, but you have to be able to separate it from the '39 film, if not, you won't like it. Give it a chance, you won't be sorry!!!

Slow start to fun finish

After the first 45 minutes I was ready to leave the theatre. The dialogue was corny and juvenile, then I hear the laughter of some kids behind me to remind that this is for all ages. Once the action gets going it becomes a fun movie. I found the 3-D more of a distraction than an enhancement.
