Loved this movie! As good or better than the original Wizard of Oz.
Fantastic colors, sets, characters, and costumes. Great for all ages.
Followed the original storyline fairly well.
Well worth the extra money to see in 35mm 3D.

Do I get a refund? The colors are brilliant. It is visually powerful. But, the big drama is a cat fight between sisters? Not a compelling portrayal of the story.
Was the projectionist asleep at the switch? The video stuck on four occassions. So, the moment was spoiled-- several times. And, the screening became an ordainary old dvd. It was just another film/movie and not a pleasant fantasy -- escape. That is why one pays to go to a theatre and extra for a 3-D event.
It may be a home collection piece. Maybe, you could wait?

I am a big fan of the '39 movie, if they ever try to remake it, it will never compare. But i am also a big fan of the books written by L. Frank Baum. (not all the crazy ones that were written by others after he died) If you are a fan of the books, you will like this movie :) There are lots of little things taken from the books and trying to figure out what they are makes the movie that much more fun to watch!
The scenery is beautiful, the baboons are scary & the witch is evil!!! What more could you want?! The 3D special effects are fun, if at times a little woozy making. It was very fun to watch.
The story was good & i liked the dynamics between the 3 witches. On it's own, it's a great film, but you have to be able to separate it from the '39 film, if not, you won't like it.
Give it a chance, you won't be sorry!!!

Very entertaining! I love to watch fantasy films, the CG graphics are great and I enjoy the storyline! It's probably not something I'd let any child see though (even though the rating is PG - ratings are pathetic these days) - there are some disturbing scenes that may cause a young child to have bad dreams. Also, if you are a religious family and your child isn't mature/knowledgeable enough about witchcraft and the like, you may want to explain some things before/after the show.

The story was well told, but I didn't find the witches all to compelling.
I liked Mila Kunis character Theodora early in the movie, but lost interest after she became evil. I thing it was a combination of so-so makup and writing.
I liked James Franco as Oz. I thought he did a good job.
All-in-all worth seeing though.
