So disappointed...

The acting was sub-par, the casting was horrendous and the effects were less than stellar. 1/4 of the way through I told my husband how disappointed I was in the movie. And that attitude never changed. I was all set to LOVE this movie, being an avid Oz buff....but this just didn't do it for me. The story line was rushed, as if they were just trying to get all the characters introduced quickly so they could get on with it and meet the next character. The dialog was rough and uncomfortable, the natural, believable flow of conversation was not there. You never got lost in the movie, you were always very well aware that these were actors playing a role--they reminded you at every turn. This is the FIRST movie that I've ever been so disappointed by. I might suggest it for a (much) younger crowd of elementary school kids because they're the only ones that don't care about the actual acting, but the story itself wasn't very good either!! Ugh. What a waste of time and very underwhelming.

Disappointing, This is definately PG. Good for kids. if you are looking for action, or anything exciting, this does not have it. No part of it is truly scary or thrilling. It comes off long and slow. The 3D effects are there but its hardly worth wearing glasses for. The occasional Falling snow flakes is really all I remember. I was ready for the end

Oz The Great and Powerful #D - Not Worth the Money or Time

What a total and complete waste of time and money. Even youngsters will find it difficult to sit through! Poor acting. Franco at his worst. Story line non-existent. Special effects limited. There was no need to make it or see it in 3D. Would have walked out, my took a group of younsters from my community so we sat through it with alot of shuffling in our sears, taking bathroom breaks, etc. Two of the kids felt asleep. Others were reading their smartphone messages and surfing the web. I usually don't condone these phone behaviours in a film house but the film was totally mindless. Way, way off the mark.

3D Pushes the Envelope - Visually Stunning!

From the beginning one realizes this isn't yesterday's 3D! Perhaps even more so than the color portions of the film, the B&B 3D (at the start) was remarkable if for no other reason than one is not so distracted by the amazing colors later. During the remaining pumped-up color scenes the 3D was spectacular although I felt the backgrounds fell a bit flat. The story is fun if a bit different than expected based on the "original" film. Given its length, I'm not sure much more could be done to create more interest in the characters; perhaps this will wait for the next release (spoiler alert:) since there is a witch waiting to come back! Overall I'd say this is a very good film with excellent visuals including the monkey and baboons. I don't believe I'd necessarily take children under say 10 but the scary scenes are reasonably light and brief. Go see this movie. It was fun!
