So beautiful to look at, so boring to watch

There are a few really captivating, emotionally engaging, beautifully-acted scenes. Then there's the rest of the movie. It's incredibly slow and expository. I found myself just waiting for something to happen. James Franco is adequate, but the women are far superior, and the movie is completely stolen by the China Doll. It is really gorgeous to look at and almost worth the price of admission just to SEE it. As a designer, the opening titles were incredibly captivating to me.

Oz The Great and Powerful 3D

The effects were great. The characters were very memorable. Children of all ages will enjoy the magical adventure to Oz. The story linked most everything from the original Wizard with Judy Garland. The only thing I didn't see was the story behind the "Ruby Slippers". I will buy the DVD when available and enjoy the movie again and again.

For kids? Really...

I liked it! I was entertained and intrigued with their presentation. Wanting to see the yellow brick road and Oz again; loved the little flying monkey and the china girl. Lots of boobs and kissing of witches ....not too much for me, but, did they have to add so much for kids? I guess the young ones today are accustomed to seeing all that... 3D was low key... I didn't get dizzy, just right, I thought. So for the family; it works, just scarey like the original Wizard of Oz...Enough adult humor to keep us adults entertained and the kiddos in the dark...

Great visuals, crap plot

Gorgeous to look at, but watching a story about 3 powerful witches wringing their hands and falling all over a male conman to save them left a bad taste in my mouth. The "wizard" is a thoroughly unlikable character, the most reluctant of "heroes", who is eventually guilted and browbeaten into the doing the right thing. I wouldn't recommend encouraging this sort of thing with your money.

Worst Movie I've seen in a while.

Wow, that was bad. I hate to think how much money they spent on that. What a waste. I don't know if it was the script or the acting or what, but it was all pretty bad. I've liked all those actors in other movies, so maybe it was the script. Maybe I was expecting too much, having liked the original Wizard of Oz. Maybe I was expecting too much, coming from Disney. Please stop trying to make money by giving us trash movies like this as sequels to classics. How much money do you need really?
