There are a few really captivating, emotionally engaging, beautifully-acted scenes.
Then there's the rest of the movie.
It's incredibly slow and expository. I found myself just waiting for something to happen. James Franco is adequate, but the women are far superior, and the movie is completely stolen by the China Doll.
It is really gorgeous to look at and almost worth the price of admission just to SEE it. As a designer, the opening titles were incredibly captivating to me.

The effects were great. The characters were very memorable. Children of all ages will enjoy the magical adventure to Oz. The story linked most everything from the original Wizard with Judy Garland. The only thing I didn't see was the story behind the "Ruby Slippers".
I will buy the DVD when available and enjoy the movie again and again.

The 3D version is very good - great special effects. I thought though that it was slow at the beginning and picked up once M. Kunis turned evil. Michelle Williams is fantastic in this movie. She plays Glinda perfectly. Some connections to the original Oz throughout.

It just missed in every aspect. The acting, story, characters, plot, etc. "just missed." It had such potential to be really great and I was very disappointed. The only redeeming characters in the entire movie were the adorable monkey and china doll. I am usually a fan of all of the actors in this movie and none of them gave a stellar performance. If you really want to see this, then I would wait for the DVD. DO NOT waste your money.

This was one movie I will most definitely go and see a second time. It was amazing and full of surprises. It makes me want to watch the Wizard of Oz movie all over again! The thing about it being in 3D only made it better. AMZING!!!
