I'm a huge Wizard of Oz fan so needless to say I was super excited when Oz the Great and Powerful came out. In fact, I saw it with my best friend (also a huge Wizard fan) on the night before it opened in the theaters. We didn't see it in 3D however. This week we took our boys to see it during spring break - this time in 3D. All I can say is - Wow, it seemed like an entirely different movie. From the opening credits the movie just drew you in with it's 3D effects .We noticed things this time around that we hadn't noticed in the first viewing. I definitely recommend seeing it in 3D. Our boys (both 16 years old) liked it as well and were able to follow the storyline even though neither of them had seen The Wizard of Oz. We all liked it because the movie was entertaining and packed with lots of visual effects. I'd recommend it for both Wizard fans and non Wizard fans. A must see in 3D...

I was disappointed, I love James Franco and he did a good job but I almost think Johnny Depp would have given the character a little more animation. The wicked witches were horrible!!!!! Could have found better actresses that could come across as really evil. they just didn't do it for me at ALL. However Glinda was perfect. The story was cute, but a little too long, thought there could have been a few more one liners to lighten it up a bit especially with the little flying monkey. Too much was going on, and it was too choppy. Tried to shove too many things in and neglected the storyline. I think it should have ended back in Kansas with Oz and Glinda living "Happily Ever After". The 3D was awesome though.

What a total and complete waste of time and money. Even youngsters will find it difficult to sit through! Poor acting. Franco at his worst. Story line non-existent. Special effects limited. There was no need to make it or see it in 3D. Would have walked out, my took a group of younsters from my community so we sat through it with alot of shuffling in our sears, taking bathroom breaks, etc. Two of the kids felt asleep. Others were reading their smartphone messages and surfing the web. I usually don't condone these phone behaviours in a film house but the film was totally mindless. Way, way off the mark.
