1939 Wizard of Oz has been my favorite movie since I was a kid. So,I had really anxiously awaited the premiere of this movie, and had hyped it up in my head. This could be the reason I couldn't shake the feeling of being let down. Overall I really enjoyed the movie. I felt that some of the scenes were horribly corny. Especially in the beginning of the movie. I saw that they were trying to pay homage to the original, and give people like me the sense of nostalgia, but also reach to newcomers and show off the new movie technology and 3D. I just didn't think they married the two quite right. Close but no cigar. I respect the effort. My only other complaint was the plot depth of the witches..that left me wanting to see a bit more of they back stories, to how they got to the point at which they were in the movie. Fell a little bit flat for me there. But the story is plausible, and did a good job filling in lines of how the wiz got there, and set it up quite nicely for Dorothy to arrive.

i went to see this movie not long ago with my family. It's weird seeing James Franco play this type of role in a movie. The movie is great for the younger crowed. But if you are looking for this movie to compare to the Wizard of Oz, you might have a bit of trouble sitting through the movie.
Other than that, I thought it was pretty good!

The name of my salon is Wicked so I am a real fan! But this movie was terrible. Not even worth a Redbox rental. Could have been a great movie but they blew it.

This movie dragged. I spent the first half hour wondering when it was going to pick up and another fifteen minutes wondering what other things I could be doing if I wasn't watching this movie. Sometimes I get the feeling Hollywood has decided that if they throw in enough visual effects they can forget about story.
Walked out on this one about 45 minutes in. Decided there were better things to do with my time.

The entire film was mesmerizing! I loved the actors, the sets and the costumes. It was true to the original, but even better in many ways.
