Should have been GREAT...it wasn't.

Went to this movie with high expectations due to the stellar cast and of course trailer advertising it. Started out strong, pulled you in then flatlined 1/4 way in...the emotional attachment between the 'brothers' was lost 1/2 way though the film which for me ruined it. With a cast this strong and talented I feel a much better film should have been created....my advice....wait too see it on DVD/On Demand.

One of the worst movies I have seen. I was so disappointed! The movie was slow in a lot of parts and didn't explain other scenes that needed to be explained. The only good part was that you could feel Christian Bales pain playing Russel. Unfortunately that was it for him. The other actors had harder roles in my opinion and portrayed them really well. I go to the movies every week and unfortunately for me this was the second movie in a row that was disappointing. If you have 2 hours to waste, than go see this movie. If you want to see something entertaining than don't go.

This is a great movie. It is a movie for mature audiences. Christian Bale has done an excellent job with this role. Woody Harrellson is a good actor to play the role he played. Zoe Saldana has came up as an actress. Cudos to all the actors and actresses. They performed exceedingly well.

If Christian Bale were regular people...

...would have been a much better name for this movie. It had a lot of good plot ideas that even though they were fulfilled weren't terribly exciting. Throughout the whole movie you seem to be on the brink of this big ballroom gala event that at the end is actually the playroom at McDonald's . This movie seemed to be a day in the life of Christian Bale if he were a blue collar worker in a mill town instead of the mega celebrity he is. We watched him do the most mundane things and even when he had the opportunity to do something covert and sneaky he executed it as dryly as possible. Based off the trailer the movie looked very dramatic and full of suspense and action. There was suspense...the thrill of waiting for the movie to start. All star cast, none of them gave any more than they had to IMO which wasn't much. This is not a date night movie or a movie to take in as an alternative to something you rally want to see. Believe me...you don't really want to see this.

Don't waste your time or money

What a complete waste of time. There was absolutely nothing special about this movie. The talent in this movie was wasted. I expected so much more. It was long, boring, not enough action, not enough emotion (Casey Affleck being the exception), no chemistry between characters, the telling of the story (especially the ending) leaves something to be desired. I was extremely disappointed in this movie. However, I will say, Casey Affleck was excellent. He was the only one that I felt any kind of emotion for. Everyone else, not so much. One day I will learn the lesson that just because it has an all star cast, doesn't mean it's going to be a good movie.
