Pretty good scifi with a twist

Mostly good. Good acting, script, etc. I liked the story. The "good guy" confesses to really being the bad guy. His race originally wipes out the monster's race in order to steal the monster's home planet. An unusual touch.
Too dark. Movies that take place mostly at night or in the dark bother me because most of the action is implied, indirect, insinuated, unclear, etc. I guess it saves a ton of money on special effects but too often leaves me thinking "what just happened".
Overall.... if you're a scifi fan go see it.

Best Sci - Fi since " ALIEN" or john carpenters "the THING" a must see and keep for the library. I saw it on opening day with a packed audiense , everyone clapped at the end of the movie. Good suspense, great story telling will keep you on the edge of your seat. Can't wait for the DVD

Outlander : 10 Second Drunken Review

Jesus plays a spaceman. Hellboy plays a viking but he's only in it for like 5 minutes. John Hurt is here as well for some reason. A fire dragon alien monster with ridiculous powers fights vikings. Vikings die. Jesus gets his groove back and joins together with aformentioned vikings and more blood ensues. Definitely a delight on a late drunken night, but as it is, It's like all the combinations of movies that all the reviews said it was. (13th Warrior, Beowulf ((The one with Highlander, not the CG one)) Its fun, but at times takes its self more seriously than a movie about aliens and vikings fighting crazy monsters should.

    The Outlander

    by MajorW

I went to see The Outlander due to my interest in anything Jim Caseville has acted in. Its a much better film than one would think from not having dime one spent on advertising it. Fandnago's description is accurate, as Jim plays an "alien" warrior" whose star ship crash lands on Earth. I use the quate marks for alien delibertly, as in the first few minutes of the film you find out that our Earth is a lost seed colony from his species. A monster also escapes from his ship and that brings on the battle bteween our hero Cainan and the Norse Vikings that take him in. The monster is shown in brief images to set up the horror and fear this beast brings. The action shots are suburb, and there is even a little humor in a couple of the scenes. All in all a very enjoyable film to see if you're tired of all the blockbuster megapictures showing.

    A great escape!

    by dark_soul

A friend of mine and I went to see because it sounded so outlandish we had to go. To my surprise it was a very entertaining movie. It sort of reminded me of the 13th Warrior with aliens, and I like both of those things.

The sets are well designed, the effects are better than expected and the character lines are well developed, but Jim Caviezel's dialogue is a bit odd, perhaps it is supposed to be since he is the Outlander.

Good fun and a surprisingly well done sci-fi movie.
