Live your life like Ned

"Our Idiot Brother" starring Paul Rudd (Ned) gives us a good guy who has made some bad decisions in his life. He has a great attitude about life, and that gets him in trouble with a lot of his friends and family. How can someone be so trustworthy? Ned is. Elizabeth Banks (Miranda), Adam Scott (Jeremy), Rashida Jones (Cindy), Zooey Deschanel (Natalie), Emily Mortimer (Liz), Steve Coogan (Dylan), and T.J. Miller (Billy) are along for the ride as well. Ned is fresh out of prison with no home, no girlfriend, and no dog to call his own. So what does he do? He goes and visits his three sisters and somehow makes them all realize that family does come first above all else, and you should just enjoy life and be free from worries. He as a feel good attitude about everything. Yes, there will be some obstacles in life and Ned will get on the nerves of his sisters, but at the end of the movie, it was all meant to be. It was a good fun flick to see. Nothing amazing, just a good heart welming story.

Not worth the price of admission, wait until it's available on dvd...better yet, wait until it's available on cable to watch if you have nothing better to do.

It's a nice change of pace...

...from the predominant loud, over-the-top guy comedies (not that I don't like those too sometimes) It's just that this is a cynic-free movie. Nobody's snarky, everyone's not winking behind each other's backs, and it's not a stoner movie, despite how it's often sold as that. Rudd is just a sweet, optimistic guy who's not so much an idiot (ala Dumb & Dumber), it's just he puts his foot in his mouth often, especially around his sisters (who are all well cast). He's not at all comfortable with lying, even little white ones used to avoid sensitive family topics. Anyway, starts slow but then it picks up the pace about a quarter of the way in. There's no explosions, car chases, or gratuitous sex (tho a bit of nudity). It has it's serious moments, especially near the end, but mostly it was a pleasant movie that made you feel good about people (well, some of them at least!) Good date movie. Something for both genders. Enjoy!
