    How It Really Was On The Road!

    I admit I was pleasantly surprised by this film. Friends told me it is too long and overdone (whatever that means) but I liked it, a lot! It gives what I would say, is a clear, accurate, exciting, disturbing, exhilirating portait in motion of life on the road and the basis for the book. The acting is terrific. In my humble opinion, this is the best work yet by Kristin Stewart. She is so subtle yet within is a fierce intensity, fear, highs, lows, and exhiliration. The actors are symbols for the journey because their faces convey the entire journey's impact on them. Each actor is terrific!. I think the film gives an accurate and "no holds barred" experience of the beat era and all that included. This film is the aduit version of Happy Days! I felt a myriad of emotions and never knew what to expect next. Visually, this film is a masterpiece for its detail and vivid color. All in all, I was very pleasanly suprised, exhilirated, disgusted, and emotionally moved!

    On the Road

    This is the worst movie I have seen in years. It didn't really seem to be representative of the late 1940's and early 1950's at all. It was dreary and depressing, and I left the theater angry to witness such a degree of apathy and lack of life motivation. I am sorry to say that I absolutely detested sitting there through the worst two hours I have spent in a very long time. I love movies that make me laugh or invoke fear or excitement. This movie was just terrible....period.

    Letting Go of The Past

    Post WWII... Survivors of the depression, of the war- Overnight a new era was strewn before them. Ideals were being born, new cultures blossoming, business was booming.,it was as if the earth had bestowed a new liking to the future. Dean Moriarty was smelling the roses. And Marylou, oh yes! Marylou,so lovely, a bird of paradise who required 4
    hands to settle the discontent of overflowing beauty. Camille, what is it about Kirsten Dunst! She's like blinding starlight, so lovely, your eyes must surrender to the satisfying warmth. Sal, only an observer, scribling with his pen, along their journeys, the miracle of renewed american hope. But the grooves in the road, the hollows in their hearts - scars of the tribulation- rebirthed the obscurity: the future could only have meaning with the desparity of the past.

    Great casting, problematic script

    This film features a star-maker performance by Garrett Hedlund as the Neal Cassady character, plus many other strong performances. But the script offers no exposition and little context, so we never really know who these characters are. Except for Cassady, there are few, if any, character arcs or other reasons to become engaged with these characters' situations.

    Carefree, Free-loving Writers Share EVERYTHING

    Jack Kerouac's novel, On The Road, comes to life in this grungy movie about young, free-spirited writers who journey from one town and party to the next. They can barely make ends meet most of the times, but they're really in it for the experience. One of them is particularly restless, though we always hear him speak lovingly about his children. However, he just doesn't have the stamina to stay at home and rear them. It's also interesting to see Kristen Stewart in this highly rebellious role. She shows it all.
