Fun-- but with reservation

Great special effects, fine acting by an A-list cast, a good edge of your seat popcorn munching thriller, very much in a good versus bad old-school way. However, it is also formulaic and very predictable, right down to the final mano a mano duking out between the pro- and antagonist. The only thing missing is one of them growling "we both knew it would come to this!" just before throwing the first punch. I'd say it's worth a matinee look, but if you're paying full evening price, there are better choices for your $.

Not bad ...

Not as bad as most critics said but not as good as it might have been. A good (if pretty violent) two hours of action entertainment.

Action packed - albeit extremely violent

OK, I will start by saying this movie is loaded with bad language and extreme violence, but that is to be expected, it is Rated R. All that said, the action is nonstop, with a few twists here and there (one of them being rather predictable). Gerard Butler is excellent, doing his american accent to perfection LOL, and playing the rough and tough guy very well. Aaron Eckhart is also terrific, as is Morgan Freeman and others. The casting is successful. I went into the movie thinking ok, I am looking forward to action, but also believing there is no real way this could ever happen. Though some of it is unrealistic, you still can see how it is possible that our white house is more vulnerable than we think. That makes the movie more enjoyable, but opens up a different can of worms ;)

A copy of Salt

Salt was released around the time Russian spies were caught, most notably Anna Chapman. The plot has many holes, but overall it was a decent performance put up by Angelina Jolie. Olympus on the other hand copies the same terrorist attack at the white house, where president was held hostage at the presidential bunker. Only difference is we currently have North Korea crisis, and the bad guys are the Koreans. The plot is somewhat better than Salt, but how many times do you want Hollywood to produce movies about attack on White House and hostage situation at the bunker? While I've seen worse movies this year, I have to give this below a so-so rating.
