The daughter of a prominent French artist, Odile Versois was a member of the Paris Opera Corps de Ballet before reaching her teens. She made her first film appearance in 1948 and went on to a substantial career in serene, cultured characterizations. One of her more flamboyant assignments was the role of Francesca de Rimini in 1953's Paolo and Francesca.
