This is a great horror film relying on suspense, story, and character over blood or pointless jump scares. If you're not an idiot and paid even the slightest attention to the movie, the double narrative is fantastic and not confusing at all. Are people so dense they can't figure out what is a flashback and what's not? That's not a problem with the movie, it's a problem with you being dumb. Don't go into it expecting Insidious 5 or another dumb ***Paranormal movie. It's a strongly acted, disturbing story that disorients the viewer with the element of illusion. It's sinister and spooky and very very clever.

Save your money and wait until this movies come out on DVD. This movie is not what I expected. The movie is slow at the beginning telling the story and after that, there is no much to get scared. I think the movie needed more suspense and more story.
The story is not complicated or great.
If you want to see it, wait until it comes out on DVD. Otherwise, you would feel you wasted your money. I went to see it in a pre-screening of the movie.

Save your money, this movie is NOT worth your time or money! It's confusing as hell, it doesn't explain what the deal w/ that mirror is, it's not scary at ALL (and I'm a horror movie nut, I know a good horror movie when I see one and this is NOT one of them!), in fact it's so bad it's almost humorous in some places! Just...if you want to be disappointed, especially after such an exciting trailer, do NOT see this movie!

This film suffers from flashbacks that slow it down. Though there are a couple of gory moments, the film fails to terrify its audience. The one good thing is the attempted psychological mystery approach, is it real or is it all in their head? Either way you see one part of the film's ending coming from a mile away.
I found it hard to enjoy the film because it goes back and forth a bit much. Stars Karen Gillan and Brenton Thwaites do their best to make the characters likable but the story falls short of horrifying content.
This film is not really proper for family consumption due to some macabre deaths and scenes of abuse.
If you are intent on seeing this film you most likely will walk away disappointed.

This movie completely blew me away. I am amazed at how many people are giving it so-so reviews. As a complete production, this may be the best movie I have seen in years. All of the actors are phenomenal and the directing is spot on. It is not what you expect it to be which I think is the best part. Everyone seems to want another generic possession movie, but you won't get that from this film. If you're into the mindless horror films that require no thought and don't force you to guess what is happening, stick to "The Conjuring", but if you want to go on a reality bending, mind blowing roller coaster, see this movie in theaters. Definitely worth the money and watching it at home will not give you the same effect.
