Oblivious to our need for an original plot.

While the visuals in this highly CGI dependent film were spectacular in many respects, the plot left me longing for something original. The "twists" in the movie were highly predictable homages to much better sci-fi movies gone by (The Matrix, Star Wars and 2001: a Space Odyssey to name a few.) As a previous reviewer put it, "Wall-E had more heart." One of the biggest marvels to me (CGI or not?) was how well preserved Tom Cruise is at 50 despite his less-than-moving turn as yet another "Jack". However, I'd rather see him do a whole movie as Les Grosman from Tropic Thunder than yet another Sci-Fi everyman. But despite its lack of soul, I thought Oblivion was worth watching just for the spectacular visuals and a strong showing by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau for those GoT fans!

I have to admit Tom Cruise has done it again! I truly liked the film as it balanced action and story telling. which most movies seem to bypass these days for the Michael Bay explosions and all. The acting was great and Morgan Freeman well what can you say, it's Morgan Freeman! Go and see this movie. There is enough twists and turns so that it's not overly predictable.

well really..there isn't much to say about this movie. It started off slow, weak, boring and just built up to, a little more intensity and excitement, bu really overall a weak and lame plot, and a stupid movie which made no sense and was pointless. Also the actresses in the movie were stupid, figured they could get better stars in there and cruise was Ok but still not that good... morgan freeman played the usual lame character with no personality as he does in all the movies he's in...is he even a good actor? and tom cruise has the same intense look with whatever, as he does as well. the movie was a tribute to mediocreness and boring sci-fi. ok yes a pyramidal creature thing takes over the planet, with machines, and creates replicas of one person...the entire movie was just pointless, stupid dreary and lame. also, the ugly white girl who serves as cruise's vixen like partner/love interest..i mean they can't get better looking women in these roles? just ugly average women? come on..
