Not Last Nor First

I appreciate the opportunity to see excellent theatre in a desert of non-excellence. The talent involved was quite wonderful and I especially enjoyed the performance of the actor playing the son. However, given all the great plays available, the material was ultimately not up to the production. One of the opportunities of theatre is to present a life-shifting experience. This was just another play.

The play was enjoyable and the performances by a stellar cast were superb. This is my first experiencde with NT Live. I would have preferred some information about the performance rather than interview with the author telling us what the play is about before the play began. It would be helpful if when we purchase our tickdets on line, we could have an option of printing a page that would serve as a program. On this page, the scene list with time lines and bios for the members of the cast and creative team. I know that they don't hand out programs free in the UK and that you have to buy them, but in this case, I felt that I was watching the play in a vacuum. If this isn't possible, maybe they could give thie information by running a scroll BEFORE the play begins as well as after.

The Last of the Hausman's

this is not the first NTL films of plays that we've seen. But it was the most obvious "play as a film" of the whole series. The acting, although superb, was for the stage and not for film. Too large, too loud, too stagey. The story line got better in the second act. Still depressing. We didn't care much about these folks.
