The people referring to this as being boring and unwatchable must be the same crowd that tuned into the Sopranos to see who got whacked without the ability to comprehend the shows artistic depth and story. These ignorant minds should just stick to your 1-star horror flicks and mindless action films to save themselves the disappointment- Stallone has a new gem coming out, go see that. Haha

It's a well meaning effort of memory and intermittently engaging social observation, with charming young actors and a touching turn by Gandolfini, his fires banked but with recognizable second generation immigrant suspicion of his rock and roll son, especially when he comes home from college with a Dylanesque head of hair and dandified boots. I liked how so many cues are being picked from TV, in the form of old movies Twilight Zone episodes and footage of the Kennedy funeral , and the Stones inspired music the kids play is not bad. But the film is under, even poorly written, and it's too long. My 22 year old son who was in a band in college, declared that it was the worst most boring movie ever made.

Good series pilot

As a series pilot, NFW was pretty good. As a movie, not so much. I expected a lot from this, being a Chase fan and having started a band in 1964 after the Beatles arrived. The acting was so-so, the editing was clumsy and the story moved like a pinball. On the plus side, some of the vignettes were spot on (especially the family scenes) and the warm glow of confusion of trying on a music career was captured accurately.
