What a great experience! I didn't know what to expect but I found I really loved watching the play on the big screen. I would never have been able to afford a ticket that would have offered such an intimate view of the actors on stage. I will go see more of these productions at the theater! As for the play, it had a great balance of humor and humanity. The stage setting was very simple but added drama and it allowed for greater attention on the actors--who were superb! If you are even a little bit interested in British history or culture--this play will be very satisfying. I also enjoyed seeing the many costumes of the Queen, especially the early years' costumes. The only thing that I thought missing-was that being an American I was not necessarily attuned to the history of the earlier British PMs and would have really, really enjoyed a subtitle below each of the PMs featured (just for a few seconds) that stated their name and the dates they served.

Interesting and entertaining consideration of what might or could happen in the mind and life of Queen Elizabeth and several Prime Ministers. The play itself was very good but technically, the house lights came on in the last 10 + minutes, the screen went blank during the interview with Ms Mirren and the theatre was dark when patrons were leaving the theatre. "The Audience".....thumbs up Icon Theatre.... thumbs down

Must See

When I try to picture Queen Elizabeth, I see Helen Mirren. The play was a wonderful imagining of conversations between the queen and 12 of England's prime ministers. The play presents the queen at various stages in her life, but not chronologically. Mirren makes costume changes right on stage (amazing and seamless). Another actress plays Elizabeth as a young girl, and she is an alter-ego to the queen, giving us insight into the delightful, rebellious young girl who still lives inside Elizabeth. Though it's a fictional representation, from other things I've read about her, it's highly believable. The actors who play the prime ministers are also amazing. Delightful and thought-provoking play. Be sure to stay for the after-play Q&A will Mirren and the play's director.

A wonderful performance! Helen Mirrem and her support cast couldn't have been better. Filming live theater is a unique opportunity for wannabe NY theater-goers to view a top performance that is easily accessible at a fraction of the cost. The one-on-one discussion also added to our understanding. THE AUDIENCE is a special education for all ages interested in history.

?? I thoroughly enjoyed this NT Live Encore presentation. So poignant and funny at the same time. Mirren was extraordinary in the part of the Queen and uncannily so real in her portrayal of the monarch. Interaction with the PMs was wonderful (especially PM Wilson). However, those moments where she confronts herself as a young girl are the most revealing into the character's soul. Bravo to all involved. Love the last line of the play!!!!
