"The Audience" began with a clever idea but executed it poorly. In essence, the author reduces it into a diatribe again the policies of conservative prime ministers' policies/personalities and a fawning over the personalities of liberal prime ministers, while avoiding any critique of the latter's policies. In an interview during the interval, the author noted that the Queen has chosen not to see the show: the evening's highest tribute to her good judgment.
