a mediocre work requiring fantastic female vocalists who did not disappoint. Domingo is so old that for those of us who heard him in his prime the experience was somewhat depressing. the lead male voices were good and the overall staging innovative and interesting. i've seen a lot of operas and knew what to expect, but still did not like the visuals of casting two substantially overweight women as competing love interests for the tenor, although the Ukrainian was up to the extreme vocal demands of her role. enjoyed the performance overall and would recommend it, but would have preferred a true baritone in the Nabucco role, at least someone with whom I did not have such warm familiarity as a tenor.

Thoroughly enjoyed seeing Nabucco on the big screen. The sound was good, no complaints. It was an opera I've never seen. Truly one of Verdi's masterpieces. Enjoyed all the extra comments and interviews. And of course, Domingo is still one of the great voices of our time. He was absolutely magnificent. The High Priest Zaccaria, Vitalij Kowaljow was right up there with Sam Ramey's performance at the met.
I hope the movie theaters keep showing the Met Operas and others next season. It is a wonderful way for people to see and hear the great operas at a reasonable price and in the convenience of their own neighborhoods.
