Good Slasher Flick
by
Right off the bat, My Bloody Valentine establishes the fact that it is going to be a slasher flick, nothing more, nothing less. We as the audience see this in the first few scenes after the introduction, the villain is revealed, the back-story is shown, and of course, the film?s gore and viscera already spills out onto the screen. There isn?t anything special regards to this film, it bring nothing new to the ?run away from the bad man? style of horror, but that is what makes this movie so entertaining, it knows what it is, and it does what it is supposed to do well.
As someone who is a veteran to these sorts of movies (I have been watching slashers since the age of 7), the film does not offer much in anything new and exciting. Some of the gruesome methods of killing in this film are still shocking and make anyone cheer for the fact they are getting a bang for their buck. I found myself wanting to see the killer in every scene and finding myself smiling each time he appeared.
