Very entertaining and the acting was generally excellent. A bit long, but not boring. Generally quite believable but a couple of the (brief) relationships were not quite convincing and the Deus Ex Machina ending was a bit of a cop-out (so to speak). Of course, for my wife the long-anticipated shirtless McConaughey scene was the clincher. Worth a look, but don't bring the kids.

Matthew McConaughey's best work since Lone Star. The two boys, Jacob Lofland as "Neckbone" and especially Tye Sheridan as Ellis are fantastic. Michael Shannon is great in a small role. In fact, I can't think of a single actor not in top form, including Reese Witherspoon who is better here in a supporting role than she was as the Oscar winning female lead in Walk the Line. Great story beautifully told. See it!

I see a ton of movies and, in all honesty, this is the best I've seen in the last 10 years. Hands down. I won't tell you anything else. Just please see it.

A really good movie with a story that you can totally believe. A now a day Tom Sawyer tale. It's refreshing to see that Hollywood still can make a great thriller with comedy and heart. The characters are perfectly cast. Bring you boys...great movie

The basic story line is good. The use of rough language is over the top and adds nothing. In fact it dtracts. I do not need to see and hear a 14 year old using vulgar language everytime he opens his mouth. While this maner of speach may be possibly correct for the time and place, 2-3 well placed words would have been enough to deliver the idea.
