Mud

Very entertaining and the acting was generally excellent. A bit long, but not boring. Generally quite believable but a couple of the (brief) relationships were not quite convincing and the Deus Ex Machina ending was a bit of a cop-out (so to speak). Of course, for my wife the long-anticipated shirtless McConaughey scene was the clincher. Worth a look, but don't bring the kids.

Huck Finn for the new millennium

Matthew McConaughey's best work since Lone Star. The two boys, Jacob Lofland as "Neckbone" and especially Tye Sheridan as Ellis are fantastic. Michael Shannon is great in a small role. In fact, I can't think of a single actor not in top form, including Reese Witherspoon who is better here in a supporting role than she was as the Oscar winning female lead in Walk the Line. Great story beautifully told. See it!

Great Performances in a surprising coming of age history

The performances in almost all the actors are top notch. Sometimes the pacing is a little slow, but it pays off with great performances, and a non spected action sequence at the end that makes sense.

I had not seen a lot of trailers or advertising for this movie but it got my interest just staring Matthew McConaughey. Yes I have always been a Matthew fan and wasn't sure at first about this one but it kept my attention the whole time. It's a very beliveable and real life story with superb acting by the entire cast. Not surprising I saw that it was a Cannes film festival pick or winner or something like that. I would recommend this to anyone that appreciates a good movie with a real and realistic plot. Not sure that it is a movie to take the kids to or that teenagers will apppreciate it but defintely one I will suggest to friends.
