Mr. Peabody and Sherman is a cleverly written story in the tradition of the old Jay Ward Bulwinkle shows. You get the interaction of Peabody with all of the different historical figures in his uniquely disarming way--lots of jokes and more than one biting pun to punctuate each segment along the way. But in the middle of this all is the themes of the "puupy love" Sherman has for a school girlfriend, the challenge that the "authorities" might take Sherman away from Peabody as his "adopted son" and the love between father and son. Very well written and definitely a MUST SEE if you were a fan of Rocky and Bulwinkle, Fractured Fairy Tales and Dudley Do-Wright as I was.

The time machine going back was very disjointed. No sequence or sense to going back in time. Movie seemed long probably because of lack of sequence. It was Revolutionary France, Battle of Troy, Ancient Egypt, etc. Young child would not know what the point of each was.

I took my two boys to see this movie for our dinner & a movie "date night", and they absolutely loved it! The storyline was very cute, and they had a lot of funny moments in the film. I wish it had been longer!

So I am old enough to remember the cartoon on Rocky and Bullwinkle but my 5 year old was laughing so hard he was crying. He was fully engaged and didn't eat his popcorn - a rarity!!! Kids will love it but there is enough adult messaging as well - character development is awesome. You and your kids have to see this movie.
