THANKFULLY, this movie was short.
In the hands of director/screenwriter, Zach Helms, this movie became a contrived self-indulgent wonderless exercise in futility and befuddlement.
The dialogue was forced/horrible. There were zero chemistries between the characters. The emporium failed to dazzle us - producing yawns instead of ooohs and aaahs.
Characters were underdeveloped /flat.
Dustin Hoffman was miscast in this role - a huge waste of his Oscar-worthy talents. Natalie Portman is likely still in therapy for taking on this project. Jason Bateman gave his best shot but there was little he could do due to the weak insipid script. Zach Mills was enjoyable to watch - his character had the most potential - but unexploited.
Jokes were FLAT.
Zach Helms must have been sadistically-inclined - he peppered the movie with asinine pointless 'humor' and scenes. His attempts were misguided and unsuccessful.
Recommendation: This movie SUCKS. That was 93 minutes of my life that I could never get a refund for.
Grade: F

mr magoriums wonderemporium
A fun movie, cute little boy, love Jason Bateman, can't stand Natalie Portman though. Dustin Hoffman is great. This movie was WAY better that that Terabithia thing, but got worse reviews, not sure why.

Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium
This movie was very excellent for children. My kids which are ages 8, 9, and 11 really enjoyed it. At first I thought that maybe they wouldn't understand it, but afterwards they were telling people all about it. Excellent choice for a summer movie.
