He's a great character because he's very 'human' (in his hobbitude) - complex, not always right, but trying hard to continue down the right path.

Many claim he's ordinary, short, and nothing special, but what he does is truly show that greatness isn't what people see when they look at us, but instead is what people see when they look in us - in our inner selves.

Bilbo Baggins is interesting in this trailer because it looks like he's up against the dragon and so much more in this film. He's a little guy with a big role and the ring!

Bilbo Baggins character is so interesting because he is the foundation that starts the most epic story of all which is the Lord of the Rings. Without his adventure and game of riddles with Gollum he wouldnt have the ring that started the story to begin with in LOTR.

I believe Bilbo is the character that Tolkien created to be the ultimate representation for the entire storyline of LOTR and the Hobbit. In An Unexpected Journey, Gandalf says he has found that "the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk" keep darkness at bay and then continues on to say that he chose Bilbo because he is afraid and the solitary hobbit gives him courage. I think Gandalf was summarizing Bilbo's role in Tolkien's epic when he said this. In fact, the underlying theme throughout both LOTR and the Hobbit appears to be how small and ordinary can be extraordinary. Bilbo is surrounded by noble warriors like Thorin and Aragorn, but in the end, he is the real hero. And that is why i find Bilbo intriguing. Hannon le.

Bilbo is the most interesting character because he represents us. He is the every-person, a stand in for the reader or watcher. His reactions as a sheltered Hobbit to the terrifying and wondrous things he encounters in Middle-Earth mirror our own. We see it through his eyes, and in turn we himself through his eyes as well. And that makes his, and our, transformation from arm chair adventurer to warrior and burglar all the more fascinating.

I find Bilbo most intriguing because he is such an unlikely hero. Just a guy who wants to be left alone in his home with his books and other comforts. He could be any one of us. Yet he is presented with a fantastic opportunity fraught with danger and he wakes up and just runs out his door. He surprises everyone over and over again. Proof that within even the most unlikely folks lies the power to be magnificent.

Bilbo is an interesting character because he's got the adventurous and brave side of a Took, while still also having the pride and desire for the simpler things of his Baggins side. It makes him both perfect and perfectly flawed for the adventure.

Bilbo is mesmerized by the thrill of an adventure, never imagining that his life and the lives of his companions would be in constant mortal danger. But he manages to show strength, courage and a wisdom beyond even his own beliefs.
