    Good action movie

    by rtnyc

Overall, this was a good action fantasy movie with emphasis on action. The storyline was rather interesting (in a good way) with a nice spin on the "future" Hansel and Gretel as witch-killing bounty hunters. The anachronistic use of modern day automatic weapons set against the backdrop of medieval times is very odd. That said, the special effects, magic, and fight scenes are pretty good. The nudity seemed out of place as was the language (did certain cuss words exist back then?) Definitely do not take the kids to see this movie. I was surprised to see over 20 junior high-aged children in the audience. Don't look for a meaningful storyline in this movie. It's just action, violence, blood, and gore, which slightly exceeded my expectations in that respect.

    Classic Tale!

This was a fun movie and added a nice twist to the "Hansel and Gretel" story we have all heard and read. We have a brother and a sister who are on a mission to take down every witch there is in the area who are taking the children from the local town. They have seen it all, they have witnessed it, and now they must band together with the locals to stop the evil from spreading. You have blood, guts, action, and romance!! It is set in a town in the 1700's and has beautiful scenery. If you want a fun story, go check out this new flick. The acting isn't the best, but that shouldn't stop you from buying a ticket. I enjoyed it and will buy it once it comes out in DVD. Go see it in 3-D! Everybody loves guts and bullets coming at you on screen. Keep the kiddies at home, there is nudity and way too much violence. Fun movie!

    Fairy tale or Nightmare?

What could have been a fun, interesting twist on the fairy tale became a graphic gore-fest a la Freddie Kruger. There is no point in talking about acting, plots or anything else. I am not particularly squeamish and I found it hard to watch. If movie making has come to this people will stay home and rent something, anything, better.

    Gotta see it now!

Someone gave it a SO-SO rating and stated ".let's face it, back in that time period I don't think that the 'f' bomb would have been part of the language of the day." UMMMMMMMMMM come on guys, we all saw the trailers! I don't think in that era there were Witches with MACHINE GUNS EITHER or a gingerbread house or a hansel or a gretel!!! Hahahahahahaha Not only was the review so laughable, now I just want to go to see if any of it could even be considered realism! LOL Its a story about Hansel and Gretel with a Van Helsing spin, the kids escape being baked and then find futuristic weapons to hunt evil kid eating Witches! OF COURSE IM IN! :) :) :) If this doesn't take my mind off of the bad economy NOTHING WILL.

It was a little on the lite side....

    by

Although the movie had good fight scenes and special effects, the plot was a little thin and underdeveloped. At some points it was annoying and predictable. In spite of this, I really liked the twist to the classic fairytale. This movie is a cross between Snow White and The Huntsman, Van Helsing and Red Riding Hood.

An action-packed, camp fest of grand proportions.

If you're a fan of old fashioned camp, over-the-top action sequences, subtle satire and preposterous plots (especially one that with a healthy mix of martial arts, the medieval, and Gatling guns), you'll certainly enjoy this flick that (thankfully) doesn't take itself too seriously.

My Grandson and I loved the movie. The action and the adventure created a world in which we were a part of the movie. Fantastic, Wonderful and Awesome......

    Not the H & G I grew up with!

"Hansel & Gretal: Witch Hunters" was very entertaining. My wife and I enjoyed it. A lot of violence but the dip in the pond scene was great! So if you like heads being popped off and lots of killing, you will enjoy this. But leave you young ones at home!!! It's not the H & G I grew up with, but that's a good thing.

    Hansel and Gretel

    by

It was ok. The only character I liked was Hansel. Not alot of really good actors in the film and the dialogue was lacking. They really could have done something really great with a story like this but I thought it lacked alot of imagination.. :(

    Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters

Creepy not scary. About 90% action & 10% talking. Special effects were very good. It won't win an oscar but it was a little better than I thought it would be. I do love Jeremy Renner! He is great in action adventure movies. I saw it in 2D and it was fine. 3D would probably been better is you want to pay out the extra money.

Its an Action (semi-comedy) movie, not a Acadamy Award nom.

Okay, if you like movies such as the Resident Evil franchise and the Expendables (obviously I'm talking to mostly the men) then is is a good action movie. There aren't amazing fight scenes like in the Expendables (the first one, not the second one--though the knife fight with Stratham was okay). but the fights are clever and bloody.

Its a good movie to watch if you don;t want to think.

    It's exactly what you think!

This movie is so fun!! Yes, the premiss is ridiculous, but it is well executed and doesn't take itself to seriously. Honestly, I don't understand why Jeremy Renner is being shoved down our throats in every other movie and role but he does all right in this one! And Gemma Arterton is great!!! And everything is better with Famke Janssen!!! Just wish she was in more of the movie! The story is interesting and fun and the cinematography is very well done!! Yes, the language is extreme for the time period and most of the weapons could not possibly have existed, but are you really looking at this movie as a true period piece?? Get over yourselves, and go see it!! You'll have a good time and we could all use a little more fun right now!!

If you're looking for action and a good plot, this movie certainly has it. I love how everything ties together and seems to wrap itself up by the end.

Don't bother..... not even on when it comes out to HBO

This movie SUCKED. Tacky, full of poor one-liners, completely lame, and pathetic. We thought it would be more like a Snow White and The Huntsman vibe. Just a weak B movie. Save your money and more importantly, your time.

    kinda hokey kinda fun

It's kinda a hokey fun movie but it does have a lot of scenes that you just can't figure out what the heck they are doing. There are some funny parts that make you laugh out loud. Definitely would not take children to this as it is not you typical hansel and gretel story. Does have some really good special effects.
