    Will BLOW YOUR MIND.

    by

Star Trek: Into Darkness blows its predecessor out of the water. The acting talents of Benedict Cumberbatch as John Harrison will. give. you. chills. The story is fast paced and never allows the viewer to get bored. For me, the movie was one constant heart attack; I saw this in IMAX 3D, and it is the ONLY way to experience this movie. You WILL feel it when ships crash, weapons fire, and while you're busy fighting off the adrenaline rush, the cast will make you laugh and cry at the same time. As a life-long Star Trek fan, I can honestly say: Gene Roddenberry would be proud. RUN, don't walk to see this movie. I'm going back tonight! (And probably Friday, too.)

    Hours of Entertainment

it's the reason I go to the movies; seeing familiar characters doing fun and interesting cinematic things. I love SciFi, love Trek and enjoyed the movie. Two and a half hours of pure escapism with favorite characters, well played by a beautiful ensemble, wonderful effects and familiar treckisms.

The audience around me was as happy; full of laughter, applause and really loud excited chatter as the credits began to roll. if you're a fan of SciFi you'll love it... if you expect it to be like Star Trek 2 from the 80s... you're out of luck...

I felt like I was 10 years old...

Can't tell you all the things I loved about this movie without giving away some great surprises. Saw it in IMAX 3D with a full theater of folks who caught the references to the original series and let themselve just enjoy the ride.

    Great blockbuster, bad Trek movie

    by Tenar13

Title about sums it up. It was a beautifully done movie, and the 3D was spectacular. The score was moving and well-written. The acting and dialogue seemed a little stilted and uninspired at times but nothing too overt.

My real problem with the movie was that it didn't feel like a Star Trek movie. I was disappointed in its premise to begin with - rehashing the Khan storyline - and they didn't execute well. It wasn't a tasteful homage, and it wasn't a particularly brilliant new take on it either. There was very little focus on the philosophical issues that were inherent in "Wrath of Khan" which was what made the story so interesting in the first place.

Conclusion? It's a great blockbuster worth seeing on the big screen but it's best to start thinking of these films as something other than Star Trek. The names might be the same, but that's all. The heart of the original shows and movies just isn't there anymore.

    Best Star Treck Film Yet!

If you liked the first reboot Star Treck film, then you will be blown away. The action was intense and the acting was of course great. Star Treck: Into Darkness is a great film to start the summer.

Space Seed Mk. 2 with a Twist

    by

That describes the movie to a T.

Khan Noonian Singh is back. This is an action move in typical American style. If you're looking for thoughtful and mentally challenging, choose something else. That being said, Pine and Quinto manage to capture the best of the spirit of banter that became the hallmark of ST-TOS.

    Neat twist but unoriginal

    by

Saw it last night and thought it was a really good enjoyable movie. However as a fan of the original series I was disappointed that Orci, Kurtzman, Lindeloff and Abrams elected to rehash a storyline instead of coming up with something original for the Enterprise crew to do. I did enjoy the twist to the storyline as it was presented but felt it wasn't something that needed to be done. The cast was all really good, particulary Pine, Quinto, Urban, and Pegg. Everyone seems to be getting into their characters now. If J.J. can make Episode VII this enjoyable then I'll be a happy camper.

Brilliant Trek film for fans old, new and not even fans at all!

Star Trek Into Darkness is a wonderful love-letter to fans of the original series (and especially the movies), but completely accessible to those who have only a passing familiarity with Trek at all. It is a non-stop ride with moments of great thoughtfulness and, despite the title, is positive in both its message and execution.

But if you want to see it, DON'T READ THE REVIEWS OR COMMENTS. It is chock full of surprises and spoilers, and the best way to see it is completely spoiler free. There are at least a 6 major surprises and a bunch of little ones that will make you want to clap your hands in the middle of the film.

One of the best movies of the year!! Story was memorizing and full of classic Trek humor. 3D added a nice touch especially the space scenes! I'm off to see it again soon!!

    Awesome movie !

    by

First of all I was worried when the first Star Trek 2009 came out. I was thinking it would ruin the Star Trek I grew up with, but was wow'd. Now, JJ Abrams has done it again... The story line, direction, acting, and filming can only be summed up as OUTSTANDING!
He has revived the Star Trek Franchise, and appeals to the old generation and the new.
I was sitting on edge of my seat through the whole movie, and was in awe when I left.

Keep up the great work JJ Abrams, and I look forward to the next Star Trek movie. you have me hooked and begging for more.

Star Trek from the eyes of a non-Trekkie (But a Cumberbatch fan)

To be 100% honest I went for the simple fact that Benedict Cumberbatch was in the film. I'm a cumberbitch. I'm not a Trekkie. The film was good. I felt the plot was basically "get John Harrison." there was nothing beyond that. I also was a bit bored that it all took place on the enterprise (I have come to find out that is how much of the films are.) But the character development was good individuality. Benedict in my eyes was great and I just wish he could have done more fighting. Also the ending was a bit eh. I wasn't disappointed as much as let down for it goes from a high intense fight scene (which I had some issues with mainly hitting Harrison in the head wouldn't have knocked him out as seen in previous fights in the film) to a boring ending. But the nice thing was as a viewer you don't need to see the first film to understand the second (I would for background info). But I was happy with seeing Benedict.

    No words can describe

This movie was absolutely brilliant. I saw it in IMAX 3D and it was absolutely worth it. Firstly Benedict Cumberbatch played the villain gorgeously. He is everything you want in one. He's a bit mad, but he is fighting for everything he loves (even if it involves destroying a planet he will do it), and nothing is going to stop this man from it. The range of emotion this actor portrays is nothing short of amazing. He can be cold and a bit heartless one moment, then full of violence and passion and rage, and in the next you feel the pain he has felt and IS feeling, and you actually begin cheering for the villain. I see this man becoming (although I believe he already is) one of the most brilliant and loved actors of our time.
Secondly, The movie itself was amazing. I could see this movie 50 different times and still cry and scream and even laugh a little each time. It was just absolutely brilliant. Action-packed and in my opinion better than the first.
It needs to be seen by all.
