    Different than the Book

I think if you've read the book then you will be disappointed. I've read the book and one of the people I saw the movie with also read the book and we kept looking at each during the movie wondering why they made certain things different. I understand that some things from the book are just not possible but some things were seemingly changed for no reason at all. On the other hand, another person that was with us (a man) found the movie to be pretty entertaining. One thing we all agreed on was that the very end was pretty moving. While I didn't like the changes in the story they made to get there I still find myself thinking about the ending. Also, the accents are horrible but they grow on you or rather you get used to them. Though Ethan is not what I pictured in my mind when reading the books he is so darned charming that you can't help but fall in love with him just like Lena did. =)

    Just ok

    by LiviaL

Probably a miss cast of main character. Didn't connect with her at all. It was ok, enjoyed other characters in movie, it got boring but picked up, then kinda fell apart in one scene. Wait for on demand.

    Overall good movie

This movie has an interesting feel to it. Its a different type of Romantic love story. This movie has a nice charm to it, and is unabashed to take on deep regional religious tones and almost interweave them into a nice story. A good movie for kids and adults in my opinion.

If you like paranomal romance movies.

I enjoyed this movie. A few scenes were a little silly, but overall I like the movie. I liked all the characters, actors and most of the special effects. My 24 year old daughter and I both liked the movies but thought the main characters accent in the beginning of the movie was a little over the top.

    Pretty Good for my family

My husband, myself, and our 10 year old daughter went to see this for Valentines day. There was not much offered that was family friendly, none of us had read the book. I have to say we were all pleasantly surprised by the movie. Even my husband said it was pretty good!

If you have read the book...

If you have read the book you definitely do not want to see it. I went with a friend who hadn't read the book and really enjoyed the movie. But there are so many things that were changed to make the movie completely different from the book. I felt like I was watching a movie that just took bits and pieces from the book.

    A improved Twilight

I only read 54 pages of the book before seeing this powerful witch movie. I did notice a few changes right off the back, Emily loves Ethan for the first 15 minutes of the movie, but never mind that. Ethans dad isn't mentioned once. This story of witcraft largely relies on its two leads, which is good thing because Ethan and Lena have great chemistry. The link character is underused, but the movies villian played by Emma Thompston is perfect. She can go into other peoples bodies and uses powerful words. See the movie because of great characters and story. Its also has great special effects that make the 2hrs and 15mins worth while.

    Really Touching!!

Everyone has their own opinions. I think this was an amazing movie. Those who have read the book and saw the movie and say they didn't like it, don't understand that movies have time limits and they can't put in all the details thats in book and the way the adaption was made was very creative and good. That being said this movie is really heart warming the acting was phenomenal and you felt like it was really real. The music was fabulous and just everything was really well done. There are somethings I wished they had done differently, but that doesn't really have over all importance to the way I feel about this movie. I think that everything was amazing and really well done. I really hope they make a second movie. If you read the book and want to go see it or are going to go see it remember to keep an open mind, see the movie as if you never read the book, and people who haven't read the book should still go see the movie its really a great movie. This movie will keep you wanting more

Disappointed, but it was a so so movie

Went and saw this movie with my husband on Valentine's Day, and was extremely disappointed. Hubby liked it, but he didn't read the books. I read all 4 books and I think that's why I didn't like it as much. The books are so much better, than the movie. I went and saw it a second time with my mom last night, and thought it wasn't that bad. Is it better than Twilight or Harry Potter? No. Would I buy the movie? Probably, since I have the books. Those of you who haven't read the books, please watch the movie, before you read them. You will be disappointed by all the scenes that should have been in the movie, but were cut out or not filmed at all.

    Nothing like the book

If you've read the books and are hoping for a movie version of the interesting, funny and heartwarming love story of Ethan and Lena, you will not get it. The movie is so unlike the book that "loosely based" is generous. There are major plot changes, important characters missing, alteration of characters...it's just an entirely different story. On top of it, the casting was terrible. "Emily Asher" and "Link" were the only two characters cast fairly well. And, although Alden E. looks nothing like "Ethan Wate", he was adorable and likeable. Those three characters are the only thing that slightly saved the movie from absolute awfulness.

And the movie itself, even if I had not read the book, was confusing and poorly written. I READ the book and didn't understand the "curse" in the movie (especially because it was so different from the book).

Despite some good actors and a few funny one-liners, do not bother seeing this if you want to see the movie version of the book.

    Good movie but....

I really enjoyed the movie but I hate when someone fakes a Southern Accent! There are many actors with real accents that could play the part and if you have to fake an accent get the region correct. That was a Mississippi accent not a South Carolina accent we too in the South have different accents for different regions.

    Great movie!

I haven't read the book, so that may be why I am not disappointed as many were. It was a great movie with a nice love story. Absolutely great actors! I doubted it a bit at first when I saw the trailers but I am sure glad I went through with seeing it. At no moment during the movie was I bored or felt disengaged. As the critic said, it was in my opinion, a bit better story between the two main cast members than Twilight. I definitely think it is worth seeing!
Other notes are it is something anybody can see and enjoy. It had some humor to it as well during several points and the graphics were really good.

    waste of a movie

    by

At first I was pleased...the casting seemed perfectly done in this movie. But as it wore on, it became clear that they so severely butchered the story line from the book to the point of making the plot weak and pointless and really not worth sitting through. Its such a shame as I really was excited to see this movie. I'm sure it was a budget issue, but this book coming to life provided so many exciting possibilities of using special effects to really bring the story to life and the result was just lackluster. Disappointed fan here.

    really loved it.

    by

This film was very Twilight/Hunger Game/Harry Potter-esque. It's the new novel to film franchise that could blow up just like the previous mentioned. However the story is told from the male's point of view and it's kind of refreshing to see things switched up. There's still the mystical element, witchcraft but the way its done kind of cheesy but nothing we've seen before. I also really enjoy the Southern element, the film takes place in a fictional South Carolina town, filled with overly religious townspeople. Typical love story, some clever comedy and very intriguing use of word play. Overall, see it, I really enjoyed it and I hope they can make the sequels, I'd love to see another franchise pop up.
