    Honestly... It was amazing!

    by Yuk1soN

I went to see Looper instead of Dredd, which proved to be a big mistake. Dredd was absolutely brilliant! Admittedly, while it may not be the ideal movie for a date, I was thoroughly impressed with the film's simplicity and directness, because it actually worked... Not to mention the fantastic costumes and effects. I was just loving those "slo-mo" shoot out scenes, and I also really appreciated the modern soundtrack, it was banging and went well with the action.

    Dredd Action Packed

When I see a film from Lionsgate, I usually have the phrase "action packed" come to mind. Dredd definitely did the phrase justice. From beginning to end, Dredd's action sequence keep the action junky at the edge of his/her seat. The brutality of some of the scenes are not for the feint of heart. Do not see this movie if graphic violence makes you queezy. I rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars in the action genre and a 4 out of 5 in the overall movie experience.

    I liked it

First and foremost, I'm starting by saying I'm not some comic book Judge Dredd fanboy. I do like comic books, but I'm not familiar enough with the series to speak intelligently about how the movie nailed/failed capturing Dredd in live action. The little I do know about the comics shows that they at least paid respect to it, by never showing Dredd's face or even really taking off his helmet. What I can say is that it's better than the Sylvester Stallone version from the 90's.

Megacity 1 is portrayed a city that's been ravaged by the conditions of the world around and it definitely shows. The beginning of the movie sets up that the city is a hell hole and that crime runs rampant. The opening scene really kind of shows this as well. The entire movie takes place over a day or two really and I think this was a smart choice by the writers and directors which just shows how much **** happens in this city in one day.

All in all. If you like gunplay and can stand gore. SEE IT!

    Surprisingly Entertained

    by bgernux

I don't normally review films, and had no intention of seeing Dredd in the theater, but after randomly seeing it this weekend I was very impressed. I am a comic book reader, but HAVE NEVER READ Judge Dredd comics before. I saw the 1995 film a long time ago, but was never interested enough in it to even remotely care about this reboot of the franchise. However, it was very stylish. Good soundtrack. Good action. Lots of style (a few times maybe excessive). I was very entertained and would like to see future sequels.

    Boring and creepy

The whole movie is the same thing over and over it seems that every scene is essentially the same. Also some of the scenes are down right disturbing. Slow motion scenes are poorly timed. I am usually intruiged by the futuristic society movies but this doesnt have much to do with society it is all about one group and destroying them.

    Dredd was GREAT!

Judge Dredd (1995) didn't get it right, not even close. Dredd (2012) does, and does it well. The action was gritty and not in stupid slow motion, the blood was real and not crappy CG, Urban is Dredd moreso than Stallone's will ever be. It's a shame that most people are not seeing this movie because of the comparsions of the Raid; don't compare the two movies. Raid was released before Dredd, but it was made after Dredd was completed. Any similar ideas are literally coincidental.

Go see Dredd, 2D or 3D. 3D was great. This is a great movie in story, from the actors, and how it's shot. Please stop comparing it to the Raid, PLEASE! And please god, see this than seeing stupid films like House at the End of the Street. Critics saying HatES is a good movie aren't to be trusted.

    See Dredd! "I'am the Law"

    Dredd-Must See

    by Nemezez

This is what the movie should have been! It sticks to the original graphic novel and takes away any limits, hence the R rating. I'll be seeing it again and buying the DVD!

    Not for everyone..

...But for those that enjoy the gritty splatter comics from the 80's and 90's you MUST see this movie. The overall tone and visual style is awesome. The plot is honest and doesn't pretend to be anything more than it is. It's a fun movie for those enjoy things on the darker, grittier and more visceral side of the fence.

    DREDD

This is indeed a violent and bloody film. It's way over the top in graphic detailed killing scenes. However, I thought that the slow-motion scenes were excellent. The special effects were good (not great) and the acting was also only good, not great. The story line was very good and the film actually had a good plot. Because of the fact that the screenplay writer provided an excellent script, the director was able to follow it and do a fine job of direction in the film. If you are the least bit queasy then DO NOT go to this one, nor rent it when comes out on DVD. I gave it a so/so review because of excessive use of the F word and the over the top graphic killing sequences.

Far Superior to the '95 Stallone Version

    by Wayno

Karl Urban IS Judge Dredd! The feel of the movie is as dark as the comic without losing the darker humor contained within! Very faithful adaptation in every way! Run to see this!

    I AM THE LAW!

Go see it! It was a great movie and i really enjoyed spending two hours watching this flick. I love the whole futurastic theme to it, and it had plenty of high flying action to keep everyone entertained. Karl Urban plays the one and only judge Dredd, and he did not dissapoint. If you enjoyed the original, you will love this one. Dredd and his new partner in crime must battle a ruthless woman who is hell bent on taking over the city with a new mind altering drug. Dredd will not stop for anyone, and will do everything in his power to take this woman down. Go check it out, one of the best movies i have seen. Fans of "Total Recall" will love "Dredd" !!!! Fun times for all. Not for kids with all the blood and language.

    Bada$$

Dredd is one of the best action movies I have ever seen. Karl Urban was perfect as judge dredd and I appreciated the helmet staying on. The fight scenes especially the slow-mo ones were great. Plot was simple but I liked it, and I am hoping this one does well enough for a sequel.

    Solid Action Movie

I don't know anything about comics. I do know Dredd has everything an action movie should have without any of the artsy angst that gets in the way for many shoot-em-up flicks, and yet the story elements are solid and relevant for people who care about backstory. I definitely recommend this for action movie fans.

    Enjoyable Future Cop Story

After reading how this movie got cheated on Reddit, we went to see it. I agree that the marketing didn't do the movie any favors, it's much, much better than you would expect. A really interesting storyline and engaging characters. It is a bit slow in a few parts, where you wish the action would go a bit faster, but overall solid, action packed, and great story.

rickgasko Just watched Dredd. It is nothing like the Sly film. Quite good, but VERY bloody. Bones plays Dredd, but you never see his face.

love_cinema Speaking of Dredd, I thought it was solid. The gritty dystopian look was great and music was badass. Also loved Headey as a villain.
