Awesome

I was between this movie or bourne 2. Anyway i watched this film and it was powerful from front to back. This is the kinda movie you think about for days after watching it! The 2 older brothers are hard hitting guys. Taking no ****! The younger brother is into fast cars! Film is based on the 1920's and they did the best they could showing the viewers how cruel those days could have been. This movie will take awards! I am a movie buff an this one is a must see for sure!! Based on a true story....

Good, not great movie!

It definitely had great scenes, but had a bit of lulls throughout the movie. The storyline was well made and it was worth seeing.

Lawless...

Enjoyable story....yes, had to turn away from the more bloody scenes...but story, action, comedy, the family bond, invincibility of the Bondurants; and the fact it was taken from true events. Shea has come along way...like watching him mature in his career; he is becoming one of those people that I would go to a movie just because he's in it.

Very Intense Movie

This is not a particularly enjoyable movie but the acting is absolutely superb so you should go see it for that. And, Tom Hardy does an excellent accent. Would be a hard one for an American but a truly difficult one for a Brit. Way to go, Tom.

Shia Tough?

Watching the previews you would think he was going to be some bad a$$ but throughout the whole movie he got his a$$ kicked, put down, embarrassed, and just wasn't what I thought it was going to be. Save your money and wait for the DVD

Luv it!

My husband took me to see this and i'm not really into that type of story plot, but I loved it! It was exciting and the actors played the parts well. It also had some humor in it which made it even better. Took my 15yr old and she also loved it. Good movie !!!

This movie was pretty violent, gritty and kept you on the edge of your seat. We really enjoyed it. Enjoyed might not quite be the right word, perhaps enthralled or riveted would be better words to describe how we felt. Some scenes were really horrendous. We found Jack's character a bit annoying because he kept getting everyone around him in trouble by not thinking things through clearly. The cinematography was wonderful and the acting was excellent. It was definitely worth going to but be prepared for violence.

Oh man loads of violence, blood, and guts, and nuts..Great movie, great period costumes and the acting was terrific. Not for children under 16 and most ladies probably will not like it very much. 2 thumbs up!!

'Lawless' Is Almost a 100 Proof Moonshine Flick

Let's be frank here: this is not the movie for you if you are not a fan of violence, if you scoff at nudity, and you embrace loud and stupid over subtle and quaint. However, if you're willing to adventure into the backwoods, Prohibition era setting of 'Lawless' with these things in mind, you're in for a treat.

This film packs a punch and doesn't hold any of those punches back. With a screenplay by Nick Cave and masterful direction by John Hillcoat, 'Lawless' is the kind of crime drama where everything is a cliche, but that doesn't hold the film back. The choices of each of the film's players - particularly Tom Hardy and Gary Oldman - are wise, calculated, and spectacular. In fact, the film spectacularly goes from 100 MPH to a steady pace and you barely notice it. And sure, the story is a little dodgy in parts, but it delivers in spades if you're willing to be patient and see the heart of the underdog that this film represents.

Final thought: Distilled to near perfection.

too bad.....

too bad the writers have no shame whatsoever. a good script can be ruined for many that can do without the pervasive language. can't you idiots get the point across with better vocabulary? it CAN be just as entertaining without the language that's more than vulgar
Nothing to do with 'free speech.... it's called obscenity. there IS a difference.

I loved this movie. I think Shia's performance was so amazing and convincing, very different to his transformers movies. I loved Tom Hardy, his character was just a tough believable character, wishing to be like him. I loved this movie so much that I hated the bad guys, it felt so real. I would definitely see it again. It kept me in suspense, I hate that, which to me makes a great movie.

Great performances all around, even from Shia (well, he was good). Still not used to seeing Nick Cave's name on a screenwriting credit. He and Hillicoat also collaborated on The Proposition, which was effin' awesome.

Good Drama

One of the better drama's I've seen this year! The story was good and keeps you enthralled throughout. Of the three brother's; the audience can relate to two of them, Forrest and Jack. You find yourself routing for the family despite their moonshining ways and there are villains in the film that you just love to hate. The length of the movie might be just a hair to long but it's a good flick anyways. I also liked the ending...left the theatre feeling good :)
