If you never seen Top Gun on the Big Screen it is a must

    by

Top Gun Is my All time Fav Movie. I never got to see it on the big screen until yesterday! I LOVED IT! I know all the words by heart. But seeing it On the Big screen I saw things that I never saw from watching it on a reg tv. If you like this movie it is a must to see it in IMAX!

    MUST SEE

Awesome! The flying scenes in 3D are a must see. Don't miss it if you have the chance not to. Also, you have to admire how well-preserved Tom Cruise remains till today. Liki him or not ( I like him alot....I think he's great at what he does), you have to appreciate his stick power all these years!

    Bravo!

    Good but not Great

THis movie was excellent for it's time. However the 3D experience did not lend to the experience. I will say the sound with the IMAX was mindblowing...

    Top Gun 3D

Fantastic classic movie brought to life with 3D. The movie is known by nearly everyone from young to old. There is no change with the movie but the 3D was amazing and brought a new view to this classic. Whether you have seen a thousand times or never, it is worth seeing while you can.

    Top Gun

    by

Great to see on an IMAX screen but it was obvious that it wasn't a 3D movie. No real 3D moments! For $18 it was diasppointing.

    top gun

I've seen a great many 3d movies and this was probably the poorest example. I'm guessing the age of the movie may have had something to do with it. The Imax sound was awesome, but the 3d effect left a lot to be desired. That aside, it's still a great movie. Harkens back to the day when Tom Cruise was a real actor.

    Updated classic

    by slw723

I've loved this movie since it came out and jumped at the chance to see it in 3D. Loved the flight scenes in 3D. The downside is the glasses you have to wear to watch.

Sounded and looked amazing in IMAX

Being one of my favorite movies i had to see it. The 3D didn't really do much for the movie because it wasn't made for 3D when in was filmed in 1986 obviously but the sound and picture quality were great! Nothing like seeing a movie like this on the big screen!

    Still Awesome

    by

3D was unnecessary and didn't add much, but movie is still amazing, a couple of slightly extended scene were added, but it is what you remember.

IMAX really makes this classic pop

    by KDM04

If you like Top Gun you should definitely see it in IMAX. It makes the flying and aircraft carrier scenes even cooler! It's a great way to see this movie!

    Not really IMAX

    by CW2cJ

What was I thinking. If it wasn't filmed with an IMAX camera then it won't be the full size IMAX. If it wasn't filmed in 3D then it won't be the 'out in the audience' 3D. There were scenes with the jets that did not turn out all that well and they were not clear and looked as if they were hanging from a string to be filmed. The 3D did add some depth but that was all. Top Gun is still a great movie but the added cost for the movie was all hype. They should have just brought it back even with the 3D but not call it IMAX. I will admit that I did not watch this at a true IMAX but at a conventional theater converted to a mini IMAX. The picture did not fill even this small screen (the aspect ratio was not correct). There was a space at the top and bottom of the screen just like showing a true theater aspect ration on your widescreen TV.

Not only love the movie with the great music and beautiful plane scenes but really like the 3D effect.

    Enhancement PLUS ! ! !

Allegedly Tony Scott helped get this re-release done correctly before his demise, and he would be proud of the marvelous conversion to 3-d, and an all encompassing sound track, immersing the theatre goer in the world of TOP GUN.

The plot is still fairly rote, But Tom Cruise and Kelly McGillis non embellished characterizations allow them to give compelling performances. Even Val Kilmer had yet to develop his quirks, and by just presenting the character (less developed in the script than the two leads) becomes quite effective, as does Tom Skerritt's as is Anthony Edwards'.

Cinematography and sound design are crisp and the lazy sun of coastal California has perhaps never been better captured and the flatness of many 80's films is absent here. The film could be a textbook on editing, directly contrasting mechanical and human realms to create the pulsing rhythm, emphasized by the sound track.

An experience to be relished on the IMAX screen, worth extra admission costs.
