    Remember When?

    by

If you were a teen in the 80s, you probably caught this cult-classic flick on the big screen, and chances are you loved it. Reliving it nearly 30 years later on the big screen in 3D and IMAX is just, well, awesome! The story and acting aren't Oscar-worthy, but it's still a good movie with a decent storyline and great action shots. Action + drama = the perfect date night! Add in 3D glasses, and you might feel you're on a time-machine for 110 minutes.

Good to see in Imax, no 3D effects

This movie really benefits from big screen and big sound of Imax, but this movie was not designed for 3D. And so the 2D-3D conversion for this movie is just a waste.

Top Gun in 3D IMAX is all you need to know

    by cc5305

Awesome movie to watch in 3D IMAX. Much better details throughout the entire movie. If you are a fan of stories about jet fighters, brotherhood, romance, go watch this! It is a must see!

    Even better in 3D

    by Ravzie

Okay, so it's not the greatest movie ever made, but it's one I've always enjoyed. It was not made as a 3d film, so there isn't all sorts of things coming out at your face. But I enjoyed the feeling of the dimension in the regular scenes and the airplane sequences were pretty cool. I'm not sure it's worth the high price of admission, but if you are a big fan with a Fandango gift card, go for it.

    Top Gun 3D is awesome!!

Loved it! I usually stay home on Sundays but this was definitely worth dragging my butt out of the house and going with my BFF. I have always been a fan of the movie and to see it in 3D at the IMAX made me love it even more!! I laughed, cried and maybe even drooled a little during the volleyball scene! Haha!! GO SEE IT!!!

A new look at a classic!

    by

I'm a Top Gun lover! My two boston terriers are named Merlin & Goose if that says anything. My wife and I went to see it at IMAX3D last night and we really enjoyed it. Like other reviewers have probably said, I'm not sure the 3D really had much effect. It was cool in some of the fighter scenes but overall, you could tell it was more of a forced marriage. It's an old movie shot long ago and you can tell. I was too young to have viewed this movie in a theater when it premiered so it was nice to finally watch it on the BIG screen. It's worthwhile to go see it but don't expect to be blown away. If you live in San Diego and they happen to play it on the IMAX dome at the science center...that's probably one that I wouldn't miss.

    Top Gun

Great to see on an IMAX screen but it was obvious that it wasn't a 3D movie. No real 3D moments! For $18 it was diasppointing.

This is a MUST SEE movie!!!

    by

I am the first to admit that I LOVE Top Gun! Always have! I could watch it over and over again on TV (I have!!!) and never get sick of it!!! Releasing this movie in IMAX 3D was a great idea! It brought all the actions sequences to life and added so much to the experience! This movie in Blue Ray will definitely be added to my collection at home soon! I would even go back to the theatre to see it again if the opportunity presented itself....well worth the money!!

    TOP GUN

Oh Yeah Baby! I loved the film, then and now. This movie captured the kick a** 80s and I got to see it again with my kids who were born after the original came out. They loved it, I loved it, we had a great time. The 3D was awesome. I don't know what the reviewers are dissing it for but the 3D in the flight scenes was great and the added depth to all the scenes was cool. It's not the kind of 3D that makes you sick though ~ This movie had the sexiest love scene (that I remember) being shown to date back then. Sweet and kinda innocent by comparison to even TV nowadays. Acting was great & we all know it launched a bunch of careers: Cruise, Kilmer, Ryan, McGillis, Rossovick (my hearthrob) framed within established actors like, Tom Skerrit & Anthony Edwards. Director Tony Scott~RIP~ followed his success with TOP GUN with a dozen greats.
Kids OK but there is the love scene & the, ahem, Cruise bun-hugger scene.
We all know the movie ending but it still gets you.

Still my #2 all-time favorite movie

This movie was just as great as ever. The IMAX 3D made it even more awesome. I saw it when it was first released 25 years ago and I enjoyed it just as much this time. My friend's 11-year old loved it. Highly recommend it.

    MUST SEE

Awesome! The flying scenes in 3D are a must see. Don't miss it if you have the chance not to. Also, you have to admire how well-preserved Tom Cruise remains till today. Liki him or not ( I like him alot....I think he's great at what he does), you have to appreciate his stick power all these years!

    Bravo!

    Updated classic

I've loved this movie since it came out and jumped at the chance to see it in 3D. Loved the flight scenes in 3D. The downside is the glasses you have to wear to watch.

Great for my guy..so so for me

    by

This was a valentines gift for my fiance who has seen this movie like 200 times he swears.. I never saw it..and thought it so so..i slept thru parts..but he truly enjoyed it..the 3 D was pretty good but i think the age of the film did not make for the best you could see in the faces and far shots how it looked old. I was disappointed with the IMAX..where i live in Philly we have a IMAX at our Franklin Institute that the screen is humongous and it surrounds you on the sides that you feel like you are in the picture..the theater i went to in Cherry Hill NJ was not like that..i felt it was just a basic 3D movie where the screen was bit larger to the floor..not the same experience.. All in all ... good job bringing back a classic movie..even if it's A Guy Thing..lol and i was never a big Tom Cruise as far as the looks department...

    Top Gun 3D

Top Gun is still great after all these years and all of the times I have seen it. The 3D added to it, but it was not in your face 3D, It added depth and was mostly subtle.

The only disapointment was the AMC Showplace Village Crossing 18 in Skokie. How they call it an IMAX, I don't know. The screen and image were about 50 to 55' wide and around 20' tall. The other IMAX's I have been to are huge, to the tune of 50 to 60' tall. The large screen at most multiplexes is as big as this was. Still, the movie itself, was great.
