    Great 3-D movie

    by adh77

I definitely felt that this has been a great conversion to 3-D. There were only one or two scenes were I thought the 3-D detracted. Everywhere else it added a lot of depth and realism to the movie. I wish this was being done in more than just IMAX theatres as I know more people would go. If you're on the fence, do it.

    Updated classic

    by slw723

I've loved this movie since it came out and jumped at the chance to see it in 3D. Loved the flight scenes in 3D. The downside is the glasses you have to wear to watch.

    Top Gun 3D

Fantastic classic movie brought to life with 3D. The movie is known by nearly everyone from young to old. There is no change with the movie but the 3D was amazing and brought a new view to this classic. Whether you have seen a thousand times or never, it is worth seeing while you can.

    IMAX 3D was great

    by Mfortis

The 3D was done very well - it wasn't overdone but added to the experience. I would advise you to go see it in the Theater if you are a Top Gun fan! The Ticket price was a bit high - but it was Top Gun - any other movie - I would not have paid that much to see.

Good to see in Imax, no 3D effects

This movie really benefits from big screen and big sound of Imax, but this movie was not designed for 3D. And so the 2D-3D conversion for this movie is just a waste.

    Great on the big screen!

So much fun to see in a high quality digital format and back on a big screen! Saw it when I was a kid in the theater, wore out the VHS watching it over the years, fun to get to experience the theater sound, one liners, and solid 3D (considering it wasn't shot in 3D).

    Not really IMAX

    by CW2cJ

What was I thinking. If it wasn't filmed with an IMAX camera then it won't be the full size IMAX. If it wasn't filmed in 3D then it won't be the 'out in the audience' 3D. There were scenes with the jets that did not turn out all that well and they were not clear and looked as if they were hanging from a string to be filmed. The 3D did add some depth but that was all. Top Gun is still a great movie but the added cost for the movie was all hype. They should have just brought it back even with the 3D but not call it IMAX. I will admit that I did not watch this at a true IMAX but at a conventional theater converted to a mini IMAX. The picture did not fill even this small screen (the aspect ratio was not correct). There was a space at the top and bottom of the screen just like showing a true theater aspect ration on your widescreen TV.

Awesome on the big screen but 3D was not good

    by

Was great seeing this back on the big screen especially in IMAX. Sounded great but the 3D was not good. Should have come out in regular IMAX.

I Feel The Need For Speed!

Watching Top Gun in 3D at IMAX was an exciting experience after all these years when in came out in the late 80s. This classic film is one of a kind without today's computerized visual effects, when I was sitting in the theater I was captivated by the roaring engines of the F-14 Tomcats flying at the speed of light and it made me wish I were a pilot! The great Tom Cruise will always be remembered as Maverick with his famous Ray-Ban aviators, leather jacket and amazing grin, not to mention his famous catchphrase "I feel the need, the need for speed!" Actors Tom Skerritt, Kelly McGillis and Anthony Edwards were brilliant. The soundtrack is also fantastic

    Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely the best movie ever made period. This version with the 3D was the best version yet. I was not expecting much going into the movie, only the chance to see the movie itself on the big screen again, but I was blown away by the effects. It was a totally immersed experience. They did a great job on this one. Even if you think the movie is very 80?s, and corny, which it?s not, you will love the action, the 3D effects and the sound!

    Top Gun

Great to see on an IMAX screen but it was obvious that it wasn't a 3D movie. No real 3D moments! For $18 it was diasppointing.

    Remember When?

    by

If you were a teen in the 80s, you probably caught this cult-classic flick on the big screen, and chances are you loved it. Reliving it nearly 30 years later on the big screen in 3D and IMAX is just, well, awesome! The story and acting aren't Oscar-worthy, but it's still a good movie with a decent storyline and great action shots. Action + drama = the perfect date night! Add in 3D glasses, and you might feel you're on a time-machine for 110 minutes.

    Even better in 3D

    by Ravzie

Okay, so it's not the greatest movie ever made, but it's one I've always enjoyed. It was not made as a 3d film, so there isn't all sorts of things coming out at your face. But I enjoyed the feeling of the dimension in the regular scenes and the airplane sequences were pretty cool. I'm not sure it's worth the high price of admission, but if you are a big fan with a Fandango gift card, go for it.

    SO FUN!!

    by sifr

If you appreciate the awesomeness of 80's movies, then you'll see this for the rare treat it was. There is only one night left (tonight!) so you better go before you can't! The noise from the jets sounded like you were right there waving them off into flight, and the picture is of course better than its ever been. I laughed at all the old jokes, and even some new ones, like the first shot, aerial of an aircraft carrier with subtitles: "Indian Ocean, Present Day" hahaha - present day!! It was like a time machine - right back to the 80's. If you can make it, you should absolutely go. :>
