The movie was surprising a good movie! However, the ending could have been a bit better. You always want a little closure. See the girl getting back to her parents; and Halle out to dinner with her boyfriend, or how did they emerge from this situation. The ending sucked in comparison to the rest of the movie which was great.

Brilliant!

This movie will have you on the edge of your seat the whole time. There is a HUGE buildup to a KICK *** ending. It's super intense, but worth every second. My heart was pounding and my teeth were chattering for 95% of the movie. Any critic who didn't like this film needs to re-evaluate their career choices. GO SEE IT!

GASP! A REAL RIDE

Suspenseful from beginning to end. Halle Berry is a 911 operator who takes 2 calls from young girls who are kidnapped. Can't talk about the plot without revealing too much. Don't think too closely about how implausible it all is and it's quite a ride. The fact that a child is in such danger is very bothersome but adds to the tension. Berry is good as usual but it is a one dimensional part; couldn't have been a challenge to her talent. We don't learn anything about her other than her occupation & boyfriend. Ditto evryone else including the CREEPY kidnapper although we get some idea about his motivation late in the film. Don't know that actor but he stole the show. The kidnapped girl was good - what an exhausting role to keep that level of intensity. To give you an idea of the improbable moments but also the engagement of the audience, people were yelling instuctions to the characters! See Side Effects for a more cerebral, yet suspenseful movie.

Better Than Expected

So interesting are the Fan reviews versus the "Pro Critic" reviews. Loved the movie which is why I always go by the fans if I'm doubtful about whether to see a movie or not. Unlike the pro critics and some fans, I loved the ending and didn't feel it left you hanging at all -- it was a dream, wanna-be ending for me. There were actions in the movie that were unrealistic but wasn't expecting perfection so could live with those actions that Most wouldn't do in real life (but then again if there are folks out there stupid enough to not want background checks, guess there's enuf stupid to go around). If you don't like gruesome in a movie and/or you're a perfectionist, you probably won't like it. As for my house, we're buying the DVD.

Loved the fact that Halle Berry was able to make you believe that she was a distressed dispatcher overwhelmed with the responsibility of caring for the victims. Suspenseful with a twist! Superb!

OMG, awesome movie. Brilliantly directed, the screenplay and the script were beyond very well written. The right cast, and it was chilling and very intense, I only jumped once and I was glued to my seat the entire time. Very realistic, as well. A Must See Thriller for any Thriller fans, but don't take my word for it, see it for yourselves.

Decent movie - abrupt ending - reality needs to be suspended in some places

A pretty good movie, good suspense. There are several places where reality must be suspended because the characters actions are not in keeping with the behavior and values established earlier in the movie. It is entertaining. It has an ending that some will not like. Matinee-worthy.

I will admit when I was sitting in the theater watching the movie progress, I just about forgot which character was going to be the victim in distress. There were some gruesome scenes, but over all the movie was pretty good. The plot had me been going, watching to find out what was going to happen next.

If you are over the age of 18, I would definitely recommend seeing it :)

Strange

This Movie was suspenseful, yet it was very predictable,

However the end had a twist that i was not expecting.
I do believe there will be a sequel to this movie in the near future.

You could feel the tension throughout the whole movie. You don't realize the behind the scenes action when you dial 911 until you see it in front of you. Once you get past Halle Berry as the operator, you see what a great job she does. Her tracking down the bad guy was a little far fetched, however.

Halle Barry makes a lot of stupid moves in this film, which really ruins what could be a good story. They should rewrite the second half of the movie especially the really dumb ending.

OMG - Intense!!

I had read mixed reviews on this, but 4 of us decided to go, anyway. We were so glad we had ignored the negative reviews. There were some flaws in parts of the movie, but we were all captured by the action from a few minutes into the movie and the tension never let go! Halle Berry is good. Abigail Breslin is good. The male psychopath was good. We did leave with some unanswered questions which could have better been answered in the movie, but all it did for us was to make for interesting speculation over dinner. As we left the theater, several people were having reactions similar to ours.

If I had any criticism, it would have been for the directing. A couple of scenes needed some fleshing out, but the criticism is not strong enough to keep me from recommending this movie. If you like intense, GO! (Not for kids or early adolescents!)
