Middle of Road but still good

    by RBM99

Plenty of action although car chase seen was a few minutes too long and could have used that time to try and build up story some at beginning. But overall exp. was good. Saw it in IMAX which made it alot better.

A great Die Hard movie, but a very interesting direction

    by

Hi all the people that will read this review,
This movie wasn't bad at all. However, if you are the kind of person who are expecting A STORY WITH THE MOVIE, then you might be disappointed with this movie. There is a plot there, no doubt, but the way the story goes in and out of the action seems very odd, but capable for people to get. Sorry to all the people who were expecting a great story than the last, you just have to know that THERE IS A DIFFERENT DIRECT FOR THIS MOVIE WHICH WOULD AFFECT THE STORY! On the other hand, watching this movie in IMAX...it was FREAKING AWESOME!! You can hear all the explosions, scrapes, bangs, cracks, etc., that is in the movie for people to hear. It was loud, but the correct volume to enjoy it still. The director's vision was definitely a more Action/Adventure stand point because there were amazing action scenes.

So, AWESOME action movie, so-so story/plot kind of movie, for teens and adults and amazing actors from both Bruce and Jai!

Exactly what you want out of a Bruce Willis movie

    by nrvdoc

You don't go to this type of a movie to get an emotional warm fuzzy feeling out of it. You go to see things blow up and bad guys and (girls) get shot up. Bruce delivered. People that see this movie and complain that the character development wasn't nuanced or there was no connection to the audience, just don't get it. Don't be an idiot go see Les Mis. Granted this is a man's movie, but some women love manly men and thank God for those ladies that love us the masculine few. Well done Bruce, thank you for a 1.5 hour adrenaline rush.

    worth seeing

this movie is like most "Die Hard" movies but isn't that what we want? it was worth going to see and I enjoyed the action. Bruce is Die Hard and now with a son in the action I see more coming. I will tell others to see it. I saw it in IMAX and am not sure that was worth it but I really enjoyed the movie.

    All Action and Special Effects

    by lmaturo

I saw it in IMax, and it was the best way to see it to get the full effect from all the action and special effects.. The car crashes were spectacular! Well, like "Live Free or Die Hard", it had one of McClain's children in it. This time it was his son instead of his daughter, which we should have seen coming. It was inevitable, I guess. The big question is will they use his son to reboot the franchise. Bottom line, if you like the Die Hard franchise, you'll love this one.

    true die hard

this film was everything i expected out of a die hard movie. If they left anything out, the movie would have been seriously lacking the substance that has made the die hard franchise what it is. I love it. Yeah somethings may have been a little far fetched but so what! I don't go to the movies to get a dose of reality. I love it.

Was nice to take hubby to see it on Valentines Day...

    by

But I probably wont ever watch it again.
We are both Die Hard fans. There was a couple chuckles and sound system was awesome. But the 'tense testosterone driven movie' became a drama in a few parts. We we able to call all the twists and turns. John Mclane kicked more *** going after the baddies w his daughter than with his boy.

Was nice to see Ramona Flowers showing up. One of the Mafia boys must have been an Evil Ex.

I LOVE the Die Hard movies and this one is no different! Lots of action and cynicism.... the perfect combination for a Die Hard/Bruce Willis movie!

    Good movie

My son and I are big into movies and this one was fun. Lots of great action, especially the IMAX effects. Decent plot, a couple of cool twists. Overall, good fun and enjoyable.

    John MClane rides again

I fell in love with Die Hard immediately after seeing the 1st one. I was hooked on Die Hard and Bruce Willis. I have enjoyed them all BUT that said I will be objective here. This was not the greatest. I know Bruce Willis is getting older - this is just reality, but we all still secretly want to see the kick ass-no holds barred, etc, etc character - SO to see him playing an old doddering dad was odd. Not only that but I felt his acting was not up to par. His son was the focus of the movie. This son that we did not know. Ya it was typically unrealistic how they could keep being shot at, etc...and walk away with minor injuries. There was no clear cut evil villain that you love to hate. No Jeremy Irons, Alan Rickman or Alexander Godunov. Even his signature line "Yippeykiyay motherf#cker!" was said at an odd uneventful moment like "Oh ya, we gotta throw that in somewhere." So after all the anticipation I felt a little let down, but being a die hard DIE HARD fan I still enjoyed

Good action, great special effects... not the best Die Hard

    by

I am a Die Hard fanatic so all I asked for on Valentine's Day was to go see this movie! If you want action it doesn't disappoint. The movie over all had a VERY weak plot and was too short for my liking. Also, I dont know if it was the IMAX or not, but there were no subtitles for all the Russian scenes, which made you have to fill in the blanks a bit. Some of Bruce's lines were a bit corny and his reunion with his son was a bit awkward. Loved the special effects.

Do have to say that for all of you there "grew up" with Die Hards, like I did, it was great to see it progress to the point where he has grown children and cherishes them as a father.... reminds me of my Pops!

    Passing of the torchf

I LOVED this movie. . .I had the feeling that they may have been passing the McClane torch to the Jai Courtney (great choice), it was worth it! Great in IMAX!!!!

    LOUD LOUD LOUD

I had earplugs and still had to hold my fingers to my ears and my ears were STILL numb afterwards. Really good way to achieve hearing loss. The film was along the lines of most new "spy" films these days (like The Bourne... #2, 3,4...): dark, convoluted, poor writing, hard to figure out what the heck they're talking about or why they're doing what they are doing. BUT... Lots of LOUD ACTION and LOTS of SHOOTING with VERY LOUD guns! (Did I say "LOUD"?) Plot is VERY thin: Man has a [mysterious] "file", bad guys chase man, McClanes protect man, until... Of course, McClane JUNIOR is probably there to carry on the "DIE HARD" franchise because Bruce is getting too old. But THIS is NOT a continuation of the DIE HARD tradition... If you're a DIE HARD FAN, this will be VERY disappointing. (BTW, many shots in the trailer are NOT in the film and MOST of the trailer is right at the beginning of the film. FORGET the rest. OUCH! $39 FOR TWO!! Woulda cost $5.99 to rent for my 12-foot screen at home.
