Campy with a side of eye candy

    by Kylia

I'm not sure what to say about this movie, exactly. I didn't dislike it. However, I think it could have done more. The re were some seriously over the top moments and Famke Janssen's character was at the center of a lot of them. I do like the way it ended. I also feel there could have maybe been more witty banter and less cheese.

Hansel & Gretel - Witch Hunters

Saw this movie in IMAX 3D and I really enjoyed it. Good effects, some humor and lots of action. Realizing beforehand that this wasn't ever going to be an Oscar nominated movie, I wasn't expecting all that much. It did provide a mindless, fun filled afternoon that was very appreciated by both me and my 17 year old son. Go see it!

    Eh....

    by FanBip

Just so so. Cute idea with a big budget for gore. Entirely predictable plot turns (do not expect more than 2). Leads were charismatic but seemed like time travelers from today. Did the F word even exist in those times?

    AMAZING IN 3D

    by Betasx

Wow the 3D is amazing with shrapnel and logs and arrows and such making you duck in your seat! No shortage of gore but I guess the humor balanced it out. I think any age would love this one but especially under 25. Acting, cinematography and graphics were incredible. Really excellent movie.

    Saturday Matinee Popcorn Fun

If you like Xena or Hercules type fantasy action this movie should keep you entertained. A solid performance by Famke Janssen as the lead bad witch. The directing was well paced. Kept the story moving.

    Hansel and Gretel 3D

    by Garvone

The best way to see the movie is 3D. It is a totally different movie much more entertaining and fun to watch.
It gets you totally involved in the movie when they are 3D.
Not for small children, language and brief nude scene.

    Awesome

    by diggitd

This movie is defimitely a must see. Wouldn't recommend brining kids; the killing/fighting scenes are quiet graphic...blood and guts galore.

    Loved it

    by JPBV

The special effects and 3D very well done. The good witches were adorable, the bad witches horrible.

If you're looking for a realistic fairy tale, you're in the wrong universe. This flic requires suspending a lot of disbelief, but once you do, it's enormously enjoyable. The end leaves ample room for sequels which I hope are forthcoming in the not too distant future.

    Bloody movie

    by bob-666

If you like cheesy action filled blood-fests, this is a movie for you. The 3D was great and the gore was spectacular. OK, not Ninja Assassin spectacular, but quite good nonetheless. And in 3D! It think it was way overpriced, however, so go see it at an early matinee time.

The acting was fine and the story line was pretty nonsensical, but it was a lot of good clean, er bloody, fun. I think Jeremy and Gemma work quite well together. In this movie, they're not romantically involved, which is comforting inasmuch as they play brother and sister! :D Hansel does have a love interest, although that part isn't a terribly important part of the movie. She does manage to get naked, however -- albeit briefly.

So if you need an hour and a half of mindless entertainment based on a grim (Grimm?) version of Hansel and Gretel, by all means go see this film. It's rated R, primarily for violence I suppose, so I wouldn't plan on taking young children.

Who needs therapy when you have a crossbow!

I loved this movie so much i don't care if critics hated it. This movie was so much fun i mean it was fast paced it was funny and it had tons of action!. I guess back in the day when Hansel and Gretel were kids they didn't have therapy because they are very mad about their childhood. I think jeremy renner and gemma arterton were excellent in this movie i mean they won't win any awards but for what it was they were good. I really limed the music and i did not know hans zimmer was a music supervisor on this movie usually amything he does is good. This is how abraham lincoln vampire hunter should have been. I know this is kind of random and not that big of a deal but i thought Gretels crossbow was awesome and in the movie she does some really cool things with it. There is little things in this movie that refer back to the original fairy tale but they put a mature twist on it like for example hansel has diabetes from eating to much candy and little things like that really help. 8.0/10

    Hansel and Gretel

Not every movie needs to be a lesson in life, give an "a-ha" moment or be an oscar winner for cinematography. If you just want to foreget about stuff for a while and be entertained with action, violence and some gore - GO! It's just fun. I won't own it on DVD when it comes out, but I enjoyed start to finish and was never bored. Les Miserables will win Oscar's and I wanted to put my eye out an hour into it. Bonus question: Who ever told Hugh Jackman he could sing?
