    olympus has fallen

not beleavable and does a disservice to our military, the secreat service and all of the security measures taken to protect our great nation. good action movie but as a member of the armed forces of the usa in the washington d. c. area there is no way in hell the backword north korean anything or anyone else could take or even think of holding the white house or brake our nuke codes. thank holywood again for misrepresenting our nation again and making us all look stupid. Action packed - albeit extremely violent

OK, I will start by saying this movie is loaded with bad language and extreme violence, but that is to be expected, it is Rated R. All that said, the action is nonstop, with a few twists here and there (one of them being rather predictable). Gerard Butler is excellent, doing his american accent to perfection LOL, and playing the rough and tough guy very well. Aaron Eckhart is also terrific, as is Morgan Freeman and others. The casting is successful. I went into the movie thinking ok, I am looking forward to action, but also believing there is no real way this could ever happen. Though some of it is unrealistic, you still can see how it is possible that our white house is more vulnerable than we think. That makes the movie more enjoyable, but opens up a different can of worms ;)

    Olympus

I give this one a 7.5 out of 10. The premise for this picture is good. WHY the White house was taken and what, ultimately, the bad guys intended to do. (Watching the White House be taken by ANYBODY was disturbing, but it IS just a movie). The PROBLEM with "Olympus" is that it felt like a re-hash of the original "Die Hard". There were a few laughs but I kept waiting for Gerard Butler's character to say something equally witty as "Yippy-Ky-Yay, Mother F...er". Also, characters come and go very quickly and props seem to appear and then mysteriously disappear (watch for the trash trucks). Recommendation: GO!! Especially if you like gratuitous violence.

    Old-School, Gung-Ho Action

    by hoffups

Anyone who appreciates solid, fast-paced action thrillers will love this film. The cast is fantastic and the plot relatively believable, with bits of dark humor to provide relief for the relentless action, which begins with an intense and clever attack scene which hits the audience like a roller coaster on the highest drop. This is the story of a hero's redemption and a country's satisfying revenge on terrorists who hope to take it down. Mike Banning, whose career as a Secret Service agent is nearly derailed by a tragic accident, is played by Gerard Butler in a memorable performance full of fierce, determined grit. He has the intensity and size to be believable in the role, with an air of intellligence that's often missing in many action stars. And with his charming grin and deep-voiced delivery of his lines and quips, we can't help but root for him to annihilate every bad guy in his way to rescuing the president and saving the country. Pure unadulteraded fun!

    Olympus Has Fallen

Great cast led by legendary actor Morgan Freeeman. Angela Bassett was amazing. Gerard Butler is a brillant actor. Aaron Eckhart plays a strong role as President. Antoine Fuqua was a great director. Some of the action scenes in the movie were and felt life like.

Best "Die Hard" movie of the year

If you approach this movie as a "Die Hard" movie, you're going to love it. Great action, great characters, and great action. And really really good action. The professional critics reviews I read were all caught up in the politics of the movie, and I honestly don't understand why. Give the analytical portion of your brain the night off, and enjoy having this movie boost your testosterone level.

    White House vs Korean thugs

    Olympus has fallen. Reviewed 3-22-2013

This full action movie is definitely an R rated Korean how-to on how to lay siege to the White House. The action barely ever stops and the very graphic violence never ceases. Gerard Butler, the hero, is just another job-dedicated-protector who battles the bad guys without remorse. The plot has no real suspense only action. Various fictitious dangers are injected into the screen play for graphic/dramatic effects. Keri Russell, as the hero?s wife, surely does deserve a better part but her presence was real and effective. The physical abuse, multiple killings and strong language makes this an adult only film. The showing of the U.S. Military as inept against terrorists in movies seems to be a common Hollywood stunt that really has no value.

Olympus Has Fallen but the House is Insured!!

Premise of the movie is ok but development of the premise is terrible. Major characters are written as the prototype of a standard caring President, idiot commander of the military and the Speaker of the House as the guy who knows everything.

Action is great including visual special effects, all aspects of the action deliver. Writers however should give back the money they were paid, script and lines are horrible. Butler delivers terrible lines with almost good grace, he is one of the most believable things about the movie and sells his character well.

If you can leave your brain at home you will enjoy the action. "sorry about the house" and "the house is insured" lines are a sad finish for a good action movie.

    Olympus

    by nommie

The permis is not very believable, but possible. . .maybe. The acting was good and of course Morgan Freeman is always great. Reminds me of several movies combined, Die Hard, Under Siege, and so on. A really good afternoon watch.

Die Hard meets Under Siege. What Die Hard 5 should have been.

    by

Pretty much a combination of Die Hard movie crossed with Under Siege. I think it's what Die Hard 5 should have been. Make a few adjustments to the plot and stick John McClane in there, and you would be none the wiser. The plot is weak (even stupid at times) but appropriately develops a few characters for the inevitable hopeless hostage situation with the lone guy on the inside fights his way to victory all while taunting the bad guy. The action and pyrotechnics are over the top and I really enjoyed the action and tactical fighting. It's definitely worth seeing on the big screen if you like action movies.

    Olympus has fallen

Very intense, disturbing at times. Really brought back memories of 911 and how venerable our country is to attacks from other countries. Plot is a no brainer at the end. Graphics were great!

    Awesome!

    by mstamey

The only thing I could have done without is long periods of shooting, exploding and pretty graphic violence, but certainly a nail biter from start to end. Somewhat predictable but that did not hurt. Loved Gerard Butler and Morgan Freeman!!!

    A thrill ride.

I love a movie where good and bad are clear, when it's made plain from the start who the bad guys are and who the good guys are. "Winner of Sundance Awards" does not impress me. This movie was fun. It entertained. That's what a movie is supposed to do.

Possible Action Movie of the Year!

Olympus Has Fallen is a fast-paced action movie with tons of violence and death. If you are looking for high body counts and minimal romantic mush, this movie is for you. The plot is believable, although somewhat of a stretch at certain points, but the movie is entertaining if knives to the brain are your thing. This is definitely a guys flick.

The only thing that was too over the top is the feeble attempts to corral the audience into bursts of patriotic frenzy. Americans know what they are proud of, we don't need lame attempts by the filmmaker to initiate that. Let it happen organically.

Olympus Has Fallen is an entertaining action film for mature audiences. Highly recommended!
