    Great HALF of a movie!!

I would say the ending sucked, but there was no ending. It was a very entertaining movie that sucked you in and kept you there throughout. Then it just stopped. It was as though the script writer reached his page limit so they just ended it. It's one thing to end a movie leaving the audience to wonder about some things. This left the audience wondering about everything! It would be fine if it was called "Dark Skies Part 1". I rated it 'so-so' instead of 'no' or 'oh no!' because it was a good movie until it just stopped. If it wasn't for the fact that the credits ran, I would have thought the projector malfunctioned. I recommend watching it (when you can watch it for free) just to see how dumb the ending is.

    It's A Good Average Movie

    by tzoi516

It was a good movie. If you want to wait until it's available digitally then you won't be upset. It felt like a twist on the "Poltergeist" movie, but not in an offensive way.

    nice scary start to 2013

    by

This is one of those movies that once you watch it, you realize that it easily could have been a 4 hour movie... there were some inconsistency issues, but not enough to take away from the action... it is a "things jump out from nowhere" type scare without the loud sound effect that usually accompanies the scare attempt... and it works really well because the visually scary parts are perfect! I loved the directors ability to always have you suspenseful and on the edge of your seat thinking to yourself "OMG what's about to happen is going to be horrifying, but I can't even fathom what it will be!" Although I don't think that they get you as emotionally involved in the characters as they needed to, they still connected you with them on a human level, which was plenty to keep you involved.... but the overall feel of the movie was that of "if this stuff is true, we really have no control over what they can and cannot do....completely helpless"...

2 thumbs moderately up from me...

    Much better than Paranormal Activity

This movie has a bit of the paranormal activity to it, only with much drama, suspenseful and much creepier. You will feel sorry for the family that is in the movie. Unfortunately, the trailer gave the movie away but very dark movie. If you like creepy, suspenseful, edge of youre seat type of dark movie, this one is for you. I normally dont get goose bumps watching scary, supernatural movies, but this one did.

    so so

I was not expecting a great movie when going into dark skies and i did not witness a great movie. The plot to this movie was in my opinion adequate. The acting was good as for all characters went. And i have to say so was the animation put on the aliens or in this movie known as the Greys. The ending of this movie brought down the bar for me and is the reason im giving this movie a so so. just be expecting the ending to be somewhat of a disappointment.

Dark Skies: A great movie meant for people who like a good scare.

This movie was pretty creepy, scary, but pretty awesome. Since I am 12, I'm going to say that this was one of the best movies I have ever seen over my 12 years on Earth. By looking at the TV trailer, it looks like ghosts are doing all the weird things that go on in the Barret's house. But no! It is ALIENS! Based on the storyline, kids that are under the age of around 8 years old should not see this movie. If I were 7 or 8, I would scream my head off in the theater and wet the bed in my sleep. So you get it now. DO NOT TAKE LITTLE JOHNNY TO SEE THIS ALIEN HORROR MOVIE! When I saw this movie, you don't know how many teenage girls screamed their heads off in their boyfriends face. The end. But really. SEE THIS MOVIE!!! IT IS SOOO SCARY!!!!!!!!

    Good Times

    by

Went to the late show with my wife, her friend and 3 young teens and had a great time. Enjoyed watching them cover their eyers and scream occasionally... this movie is scary but not "evil" scary so very appropriate for young teens.

    DARKER VERSION OF CLOSE ENCOUNTERS

Dark Skies reminded me of a darker version of Close Encounters of the Third Kind. J.K. Simmons was very believable as the expert on alien abduction. He was an intricate part of piecing the entire story together. I?m of the opinion that less is more when it comes to movies like this, so the fact that you never really saw ?the greys? up close in any kind of detail, made it scarier for the audience. Keri Russell does a great job as the mom trying to hold her family together as their world is turned upside down. She?s come a long way since Felicity. I must say, I enjoyed the twist at the end but I did see it coming.

    Dark Skies

The movie has it's scary freaky moments. Too me it seemed like the movies: Signs, Invasion of the body snatchers, Poltergeist all rolled into one. Overall the movie was OK.

    Typical Alien Encounter Movie

I had mild anticipation that this movie might be worth seeing. But like many typical alien encounter movies, I had to wait too long for any payoff, which never arrived. There were only a few edge-of-my-seat moments, but not enough. Just like many disappointing movies, it took me on a journey of anticipating an unforgettable climactic destination, but as soon as the story line started to intensify, the journey was over, and I never made it to where I wanted to go. I wish writers and directors would spend as much time on ending a story well as they do on conceiving a concept. Of course exceptional casting, dialogue, and other vital aspects of movie-making arouse my desire to want to begin and remain on an adventure, but the final destination is paramount to making the trip worth it. So, please stop releasing movies that take me on journeys that lead nowhere.

    Wait for dvd

This is a nice movie to see on a Saturday night at home, it's got decent chills but if I remember the twist at the end reminded me of an Are you Afraid of the Dark episode called The 13th Floor. Overall just wait for dvd

    so so

I was automatically hooked when I initially saw the trailor for this movie I thought it had a cool premise and would be very thrilling. After I saw this movie I will say I kinda felt a little cheated. The acting was ok but the story although errie at times was ultimalty dissapointing. the big twist which most of these types of movies have was weak and just made you say..OK whoop de-do. If you can hold off to rent it I would say do so but if you were captivated by the trailor such as I was then go and be prepaird to be let down.

    Dark Skies Dark Profit

I can't possibly imagine seeing this movie again. I'll give the movie some credit in that it gave me a few good scares and unless they are planning on making a sequel, the ending really disappointed me. If you are into aliens and the great beyond kind of stuff, then I suggest going to see this flick but if not, don't waste your time.
