    Rather Disappointed

Went and saw Admission today with my boyfriend. Disappointed.
I was expecting a romantic comedy and I got a bit too-heavy, very too little romantic, downer.
Its about a Princeton Admissions lady being presented with the possibility that this gifted yet school challenged kid is her son and her shenanigans to try and help him get into Princeton as well as getting used to the idea of being a mom (while having a semi-romantic fling with the teacher that presented her with this notion, and her personal life falling apart).
Not all that comedic, not all that romantic, and kinda a downer.
The actors themselves were great, I love both of the leads, but they were put in a movie that was seriously lacking.
I don't recommend this one if you're looking for a true romantic comedy.

    Wait for DVD

Entertaining but not great - Tina Fey engaging but not convinced she belongs with Paul Rudd. Lily Tomlin and adopted son best things in movie. Suitable for older teens and adults.

Good movie - but NOT a comedy.

    by rob596

The movie is billed as a romantic comedy, and with Fey and Rudd you would expect as much. Unfortunately, it falls short on the comedy portion and develops a much more dramatic element that at times turns somewhat dark. Occasional slow points don't help.

Overall the story line is good and the characters are entertaining, just not quite what we were expecting when we walked into it based on writeups and trailers.

    Admission

Contrary to the trailer , this is not a comedy , in the regular sense . It's more of a drama with comedic parts . Tina plays an admissions officer at Princeton . Her job takes her on the road to enlist students . Paul runs a little farm-like college [there are animals and the students actually interact with them] that Tina stops at . Paul tells her that one of his students is Tina's child [that she gave up for adoption during her college days] , so Tina wants to help the kid get into Princeton , without miss using her powers [she is up for a promotion] . Michael plays Tina's boyfriend and Lily is her mother [The trailer makes it look like a funny comedy and it does have some funny parts but you might be disappointed] .
It's rated "PG-13" for language and some sexual material [no nudity] and has a running time of 1 hour & 47 minutes .
It's not one that I would buy on DVD or rent , either . If you really want to see it , I'd wait until it comes to cable .

Better than so-so but a matinee GO!

    by

Not over the top fall down "slappin the bass" laughter but if you got a lady friend you wanna take it's a good date movie. The ending has a weird twist that I didn't like regarding the adopted kid. A balanced combo of LOL and geeky chemistry! Thumbs up.

Not worth theatre price....wait for DVD

All in all an alright movie. Not as funny as I'd hoped. Cast was good, but I feel the script was kinda bad.

If I could do it over again, I'd still see this movie. But I'd wait for DVD, or streaming outlet. Not worth the cost of two theatre tickets for my girl and I.

    Too bad

I starting out being a better movie than I thought it'd be. But the screenwriter couldn't figure out how to end it -- so the ending was a downer. Too bad. It could have been much better if the ending had been better. B.H.

    ...a good rental

The movie was advertised as a comedy yet it was more of a dramedy, so I found it disappointing. Was looking for comedy at the time. Both Tina and Paul did a nice job acting, although the story moved rather slowly.

    What happened!

Had pretty high hopes for this movie. It really disappointed me. There was no chemistry between these two. It would have been better if they stayed apart but in the end they do get together. Just a real snoozer. Wait for the video so you don't waste $15.

    Very Disappointed

    by

Unfortunately a huge disappointment. Border line boring. No humor not something you would expect from Tina Fey and Paul Rudd. Save it for pay per view if ever.

    Worth Seeing

I sincerely enjoyed this movie. I expected it to be a love story, but it is more than that. It had unexpected plot twists, and avoided being sappy. I recommend it.

    Worth the price of admission

Very clever movie that gets a little sappy towards the end. Lily Tomlin steals the show and Tina Fey continues to show how much talent she has. Very clever storyline. Anyone who graduated from Princeton should probably avoid this movie. Princeton comes across pretty badly in this film.

    Not so much!

I thought this was going to be a comedy, it was more of a drama. Was it worth $18, no. Wait and rent it. You would think that with all of the talent, it would be hysterical. Lilly Tomlin was the hit of the show.

    I liked it!

I thought this was a really cute movie! Parts of it had me laughing out loud, but I would not call it a comedy. Of course it is predictable, but most movies are. I left with a smile on my face!

Paul Rudd Finally as the Romantic Lead

Its about time Paul Rudd played a non-goofy guy and a romantic lead. He and Tina Fey were very good together. It was a good combination of drama and comedy with some great supporting actors. I enjoyed it very much.
