    Ruined a great premise

This unasked-for sequel to 2009?s excellent The Collector dumped all over every good thing about its predecessor. It guts a great premise of all its intelligence and emotional drive, replacing it with disposable and idiotic protagonists that I wanted to see killed, near-zombies, and a mouth-breathing villain who huffs around an abandoned hotel rigged with booby-traps that are only slightly less horrific than this abysmal shamble of a movie. I thought the creative team had been replaced between films but no, same guys. Now I just feel like they got lucky with the first one. Considering their track record is loaded with latter-series Saw films, I?m sure my grade here is affected as much by the pain in my heart as it is what artistic merit this film lacks. The ONLY thing approaching a saving grace in this film is the last three minutes, but they?re not so cool that they actually save anything. You had a good thing guys, and you blew it. Somebody shows these hacks Hitchcock.

    Good for Horror Fans

I understand the sensitivity of some by seeing this movie and it is indeed a rugged horror/action movie. There is plenty of gore if that is your thing. The story is decent and the characters fare pretty well in this sequel. I would recommend this movie to those who enjoy over the top gore and action with a bit of twisted moments while our hero fights his way through the maniacs hideout. Definitely not for the faint of heart!

    Good gore . . . bad plot

    by

The opening scene at the party was sweet the traps and killing everyone but as the movie went on it lost my interest in story just then all i wanted was to see traps. just like the saw movie 4 5 6 and 7 the plot is sliding away all movie and all you wanna see is people die in different ways . its worth watching just probably on dvd tho.

Ghoulishly Gruesome; Sick & Singly The Most Filthy, Cruel, Inhuman, Vile And Repulsive Trash Ever Committed Film.

I am utterly ashamed of myself for patronizing such an aberrant deviance from humanity and common morality. How, or more importantly why, ANY theatrical distributor or exhibitor could in clear conscience display such absolute degeneracy for money is simply unconscionable to me. The mere fact there is a presumed market for this sort of sick garbage makes my skin crawl. This film is but one small step above child pornography in terms of its social worth. Choose to see it and you too, provided you have even a modicum of human decency, will be ashamed of yourself. In a word, this piece of trash is depraved. There's nothing else to write about it except viewing this film is akin to experiencing a cinematic rape.

A bloody good time at the movies

I was a big fan of the first. You will notice that this one was cleaned up a bit, it lacked the grittiness that the first one had. It seemed as though the Director was told to lighten up the mood, if that's even imaginable in a movie like this. The lone survivor from the first one returns, just where he left off the last time, in the box. When he's forced to go back in to rescue a rich kid, he goes in with a bunch of guys who are supposedly hired guns but double as the worst actors you could find. With some elaborate traps and some brutal scenes, we are left with just two people trying to escape the collector. The first ten minutes sets the tone as we see the collector do what he does best in a crowded club. After that the action doesn't stop until the credits role. I'll have to admit I was a little thrown off by the ending, since I'm sure they are trying to set up for a third installment. A good change of pace considering the other movie choices out right now.
