    I loved it

Enough suspense and good plot. People were screaming in the theatre every time the ghost appeared... She was that scary looking. I think a rating of R would have been better, it would have avoided all the kids in there. I totally enjoyed it and will recommend to my friends.

The ending was so cheesy that i was actually embarrased for the movie itself!

The beginning started pretty good but it quickly turned into a silly, cheesy mess. What a way to ruin a potentially good movie. The ghost was such a silly, fake, almost cartoon like mess at the ending that you actually ache for the end of the movie to come. Very dissapointed.

    What?!?!?!

    by

I thought the movie was ok. The little girl needed to be in an institution AND they should have taken her to see a Dentist! I was floored by the ending...

    Great Horror Flick

I've seen plenty of poor horror movies... Fortunately this is not one of them! The special effects were on point and had everyone jumping out of there seats on queue.

    Mama

A little weird but entertaining. Starts off disturbing and gets to dragging then the ending makes up for it.

The trend of new (and good) scary movies continues!

I remember starting to see the trailer for this movie at theaters a few months ago. With each new trailer, the movie kept seeming creepier and creepier. Well, it did not disappoint. I would put this movie in the same category as Insidious and Sinister. Despite some issues with the design of the main antagonist (Mama) and a bittersweet ending, "Mama" will be a film to be remembered.

    Mama

My husband and I took our 14 year-old daughter to see this movie, as our daughter LOVES scary movies. (This movie would probably be too intense for most 14 year-olds.) We all liked the movie very much. The movie was creepy and suspenseful from beginning to end, although in my opinion, the ending left something to be desired. Jessica Chastain was fantastic, and the two little girls' acting was outstanding!

    Mama

A little confused in the beginning but figured out what was happening within the first 10 minutes. The story line was excellent, it had great moments of suspense and scary parts however it fell off the cliff on its ending. I felt that there could have been a much better ending then what the movie portrayed. Good acting, great filming and cinematography. This movie, I would not recommend for kids.

FIRST NO.1 HORROR OF 2013 - LOVED IT

I never thought this would be more scary. i was shaking when i see Mama! on the screen, her presence makes my heart pumping to death. I like the plot of the story, from the beginning to the end , for me its close to reality in your wildest imagination. Well made Horror film , i must say. first rate. Glad to know, it was No. 1 last week. for the first time beginning of the year, a Horror film went up no.1 . simply means, the movie is worth watching because it was really good scary one movie.

cliché, corny, laughable - terrible movie

I was so excited for this movie ever since I saw the trailer. I am a big fan of Guillermo del Toro's work, specially The Orphanage, but Mama did not at all live up to expectations. The beginning started off exciting but as the movie progressed it was cheesy with laughable scares. Literally people in the theater laughed at every "scary" part of the movie. It has every horror movie cliché you can imagine: ghost int he closet, going to the haunted house at night, ect. The ending was completely ridiculous and absolutely comical. Wouldn't even wait to watch this as a rental. Good idea but extremely poorly executed.

    Fun

    by tvres

Moody, well written and acted, good, if somewhat over the top ending, broke some clichés despite a couple of reviewers here. I mean, come on, it's del toro!

    Are you kidding me?

We saw the previews, & thought it looked pretty good. The story didn't make sense & it was just stupid. I was ready to walk out the first few minutes of the movie. Very disappointed.

DO YOU LIKE SCARY MOVIES? CHECK OUT MAMA

    by miamimc

The movie is scary, but in a good way. If you're a fan of Guillermo Del Toro, you won't be disappointed. Please note, Guillermo didn't direct the movie, but the movie has his style of storytelling.
Check it out, get scared and have fun.

    MAMA review

MAMA had a very good and original plot, was suspenseful, and had many parts that made you jump, cringe , and scream. The musical score was awesome! The little girl actors were fantastic at being creepy, and the angles that the cameras were filming at and the cinematography were amazing, and added a super creepy effect. The only part I have to critique on was the ending; There was no real closure, and it could have been executed a lot better. Also regarding the end: there were still some loose threads that were not tied, and left you wondering about many things not included in the movie and could have incorporated more into it to give the viewer the closure when the film. But overall, MAMA definitely delivered the creeps and scares I wanted and left me with insomnia at night :) This movie is ok for 13-14 year olds, but really is more for 15 and older.
