    Go see Mama!!

This was a good ole fashion horror movie. This movie had you jumping right from the beginning to the end. I really enjoyed it. If you like horror movies you really have to see this one! I really did not think I would be scared for this movie because there are not any movies out there that can scare me. But this movie had me jumping quite a few times and surprised even me! Not predictable, the little girls are creepy, go see for yourself!

    Mama

This movie was great! It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time, made me scream, brought tears to my eyes, and kept me in suspense from beginning to end The acting of all actors was great but the childrens' performance was outstanding! Last but not least, the special effects were amazing!

    Great story

Great, great story. I thought this was just going to be a horror, but its really not and its much more than that. Its not fabuluosly scary and its not full of effects like most of Del Torro's movies. Newer actors rather than seeing the same ole same ole. Beautiful effects.

    Mama Delivers

    by

Horror movies rely on scaring movie goers, yet some leave out the great storyline and acting. Mama delivers what a good horror needs to entertain and keep the audience hooked. Jessica Chastain (Annabel), who plays a woman not wanting children, and Nicolaj Coster-Waldau (Lucas/Jeffrey) are challenged with raising his abandoned nieces, Victoria and Lily. Mama doesn't shy away from letting you see glimpses and full shots of "Mama" flying at you. As the movie unfolds, the sins of the past are unleashed on the unfortunate souls in the present. Ultimately, building to who and what Mama is willing to kill for...

    Not bad

    by

I'm an avid horror fan, and this movie was decent. One part actually made me jump...slightly. It has some scary scenes and creepy overall feel. However, I was not fond of the ending, although i did understand why they went in that direction.

Also, when I woke up in the middle of the night last night and glanced into my dark closet from my bed, I thought about Mama peering back at me...and I smiled. When a horror movie stays with you for an extended period of time, that's always a good sign.

MAMA is grand and horrific - fun time for all

I found MAMA to be a creative and exciting piece of film making. Scary, exciting, creepy, tearful, unsettling and excellent acting by all. Don't go in the closet... The special effects and sound were very creative And the editing was top notch. I WOULD SEE IT AGAIN.
    Not for kids...

Not all it was hyped up to be.

There are some good things to say about mama and there are some things that could have been done better. The good: there were a TON of popout scary moment and over all it was scary, unfortunatiely it was not nearly as scary as the hype made it out to be. Over all the movie had plenty of holes that were left unexplained. Mama herself could have had had more of her backstory in it; when you finally see her in the end she doesnt look scary, she doesnt look like a ghost, she doesn't even look like a real person. You could tell it was cgi, and that really disappointed me. Overall the entire movie had tons of chances to have more of a story, but the writers/ directors decided not to, and i think that really hurt the movie. I wish i hadn't gone to the movies to see it and i doubt i'll watch it again, but i'm glad i did see it at least once. I would have to give it a low B- or high C+.....=/

    Good not Great

I am HUGE fan of Guillermo del Toro movies. This move was good; but, I expected more in terms of plot from del Toro. The cinematography was good, the acting was well done and the directing was great.

The story - not so much.

    DIFFERENT !!!

    by

The story reminded me of the mexican tale LA LLORONA with a twist with new horror eerie feeling. Very entertaining must see in theatres with an audience to hear the screams and jumps of other people make it even fun to watch! Great children actors which is always amazing to learn how innocent minds can create an imaginary world and "act" effortlessly.

    Mama Delivers!

A fan of Guillermo's work already, and not disappointed with Mama! Nice to see a movie in this genre that has such high production values, yet still delivers the "gotcha" moments that horror fans crave. Great visual effects (some remniscent of the Ring) and cool story. My friend (a seasoned horror movie junkie) literally jumped out of his seat during one scene. We laughed for a while after that. Nice coup to have Jessica Chastain open your movie, right on the heels of her stellar (possibly Oscar winning?) performance in Zero Dark Thirty. I'm scared of Mama! You will be too!

    MaMa

    by Ksaeli

Movie was good. It had scarey moments where the entire audience was chattering at the same time.. Made it funny to see others react at the same time. Ending was unpredictable but boring..

    Mama 6.6

    by

I'm on the fence about certain aspects of this movie. Most of it I really enjoyed. Other details I found questionable. Overall I did enjoy it. I give it a 6.6 on my scale.

DO YOU LIKE SCARY MOVIES? CHECK OUT MAMA

    by miamimc

The movie is scary, but in a good way. If you're a fan of Guillermo Del Toro, you won't be disappointed. Please note, Guillermo didn't direct the movie, but the movie has his style of storytelling.
Check it out, get scared and have fun.

Is this another Grudge like movie?

I just went to see the movie last night. I was slightly disappointed,I thought it was going to be more drama, more nail biting scariness, but it was not. It had a few jumps here and there, but that was it. It reminds me so much of the Grudge with similarities from the Ring as well. If I had to grade this movie I would rate it as a B- or C+.
