Well worth the price of admittance ! !

This horror movie had us jumping in our seats and kept us in suspense throughout. We enjoyed the movie from start to finish. Not one for the youngsters as it will probably give them bad dreams. The cinematography was great. This movie shows that it does not take an "A" list of actors to be cast in a movie to make it a good one.

    Very surprising ending!!!

    by

Took my 10, 13 and 14 to it since they begged me after seeing the trailer. They love scary movies. It kept you enthralled! Would recommend to anyone who likes this genre of movies. We all cried a little at the end.

    Great story

Great, great story. I thought this was just going to be a horror, but its really not and its much more than that. Its not fabuluosly scary and its not full of effects like most of Del Torro's movies. Newer actors rather than seeing the same ole same ole. Beautiful effects.

    Not a Horror Movie!

    by wgowie

After seeing this movie, it wasn't exactly what I expected, but pretty darn close. Story line was pretty corny, cute and weird at times. The beginning leaves you clueless, unless I missed something. All in all, it's more of a suspense thriller, in my opinion. It's not a complete waste of time, but if I knew all this before-hand, I wouldn't of spent the money to go see it in theaters.

    Mama

This is a horror movie that is produced by Guillermo del Toro and you can tell his influence . Two little girls are stranded in the woods for five years [they were 1 & 3 years old , so they are now 6 & 8] . Nikolaj plays their uncle , who adopts them . Jessica is his live-in girlfriend that is in a rock band . Megan plays the 8 year old girl and after their ordeal , they have to meet with a psychiatrist , Daniel . Everyone wants to know how the girls survived on their own in the woods and they say that Mama fed & protected them [since no one else was on the premises when they were found , Daniel assumes that Mama is an imaginary friend] . Little does he know . The story is good , their are scary images [this is Not for young kids {or maybe even some adults} because in the opening scenes , a man points a gun at a little girl's head , intending to kill her] and there are lots of 'jump scares' but there seems to be something missing [the ending was kind of weird] .

    Have you seen Mama??

    by

The movie was alright!! It wasn't like Insidious scary but suspenseful none the less! It takes a lot for me to get scared but definitely a recommendation to see! I jumped a few times & then laughed a few times.. so it's a mixture... I'd give it 3 out of 5 Stars...

    It Delievered IMO

I'm already a Jessica Chastain fan, and she didn't let me down. I fell in love with her in The Help, then she transformed for The Debt, and again for this movie (I haven't seen ZDT yet.)

The cinematography was way better than most horror flicks. I'm always weary of child actors (it seems that cute trumps talent most of the time,) but both little girls were amazing.

The plot was formulaic horror fodder, but the ending was definitely outside the formula.

Without the acting, this movie would have been a "so-so" for me.

    I've seen better..

It was a really good movie, it was creepy.
It was creepy in a boring way, though.. I almost fell asleep.
BEWARE: The ending WILL make you cry. Be prepared.

    terrible

This was theee WORST "SCARY" movie i have ever seen in my life. The story was awful!! Corny Corny Corny.

The previews made the movie seem some what interesting. I regret spending money on it!!

    Never again!

    Mama

A little weird but entertaining. Starts off disturbing and gets to dragging then the ending makes up for it.

    Mama was Awesome

    by bguillz

This is a great horror movie with it's share of suspense. The little girls are about as creepy as Mama. The only thing that was somewhat disappointing was the ending.
    Great movie overall!

    Wanted More Scare!

I was so looking forward to a really good horror movie that would truly scare me from beginning to end, yet still have a good and believable story line. The story line and ending were good, but I definitely was not "scared." There were a couple of times that I jumped, but it was just not what I would call a horror movie, more of a suspense. Actors did a great job and I agree with another reviewer about how creepy Lilly was!

    Too many loose ends

Liked the background, graphics. Movie did have a lot of down time in my opinion. It was suspensful at times, but not overbearing as far as over the top gore. My biggest complaint was they left too many loose ends that needed addressed. All in all it was an ok watch, it won't win any acadamy awards, but it isn't another wasteful horror flick...Worth a look...

    Not bad of a movie

MAMA was a ok movie, really did not scare me but I do not scare too easily. I felt like at times there was not plot and the director was running out of ideas. The movie seemed to be at times to be just going no where. I am sure it will do well in the box office because people want to be scared but remember it it just a scary movie nothing else.
