    Mama...More Like Grandmama

    by

Totally tired premise of ghostlike wraith who can't rest in peace until she's allowed to mother her dead infant. Lots of dark rooms, mild shocks which are almost laughable and lackluster performances by Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain and Nicolaj Coster-Wadau(sic). Skip it unless you watch it maybe, on DVD next Halloween.

Guillermo del Toro - Another MAsterpice

I think that Guillermo del Toro is a genius of making creepy movies... That movie got lots of jump scenes))) I pretty much sure if you like supernatural genre - you should go... Its a "beautiful" supernatural movie!

    More creepy than scary

Good story line. There are some good scenes that will make you jump. It is not too scary though. The begining is interesting that will keep you guessing. The middle of the movie is kind of predictable. The movie ends with a cliff hanger that could leave an opening for a sequel. Overall it is a good movie in a creepy kind of way that I liked.

    Scary......

    by

I think this was a really creepy, scary movie. I jumped in my seat quite a few times. The little girls were good in their acting and "mama" was awful. She was a real nightmare. I say go you will enjoy it if you are a horror movie buff like me.

    Dollar Show Value

This is not my normal type of show, but once a year I am asked to pick one scary movie and this was it for 2013. It has a good creepy/scary factor no blood (great), but the ending ties nothing out. I'm still trying to figure out what happened and if there is to be a part 2 I will not be attending.

    Loved it!!

Creepy movie! I loved the more supernatural aspect of this movie, instead of the blood and gore of most horror movies. I caught myself screaming with the rest of the theater during those surprise moments that make you jump! Loved it! It really makes ya think!

    Very Surprised, Very Good Movie.

This was a very good movie and worth the admission price. The story itself is a very sad tale when you think about it and the story is very believable. This is not a horrifyingly scary movie but scary none the less and small children should not be allowed to watch it! The acting is very good and the two young actresses do a wonderful job. The directing and effects in the movie are also very good. Also, the characters come off as quite believable. I saw this movie with my wife, although she normally hates any scary flick she really loved this one. She screamed, yelled and squeezed by arm for most of the movie! We sat with about 35-45 others when watched the movie, I had not heard so much yelling, gasping and screaming since the original exorcist movie came out in the seventies. This is much much better that all of the paranormal and grudge type movies that keep coming out. I'd pay to see it again!

    Old Fashioned Ghost Story

This is an old fashioned ghost story. Not much new here. Creepy in places, yes. Actually, I quite liked the ending but won't spoil it for anybody who still wants to see it.

Breath of fresh air for this genre. Really scary and riveting yes no chain saw or over the top gore

Having seen some of Del Toro's other films of a similar genre I expected something worth while and decently interesting. This movie surpassed anything I could of expected. From the beginning to end this movie had me. Rarely am I gripping my seat in the first two minutes the way I was for this. I did not come up for air till the credits rolled. There were a couple spots where a couple characters made some obviously dumb choices. But it did not take away from the movie really. Movie is intense and scary. Well done and I really like the musical score.

    See it

Yes, this movie did have suspense and uprising action. However the "Pop-ups" or scary moments were kind of too predictable. Although, this movie had a little story line to it so go see it.

    Good Movie

I took my two teenage daughters with me. We all thought it was a good mnovie. They liked the scares that made them jump. The end was alittle odd but, still could figure out and the reasoning behind the ending the way it was. Maybe a sequel? but overall a good movie to see. At least on a tuedday five dollar day.

    Very surprising ending!!!

    by

Took my 10, 13 and 14 to it since they begged me after seeing the trailer. They love scary movies. It kept you enthralled! Would recommend to anyone who likes this genre of movies. We all cried a little at the end.

    MAMA

I thought the Cinematography in the movie was great... especially the Mercedes driving thru the mountains. Great story line...would have liked to seen the last 5 minutes end differently, but still good. I really enjoy a scary movie without all the blood and guts, and this movie was exactly that. Had the audience jumping out of their seats several times....

    Mama Mia

This was a movie that makes the hairs on your neck stand. A chilling tale of a guardian that is out of this world, literally. I have been this freaked out from a movie in a long time. Guillermo Del Toro has done it again, give much suspense and surprise. It is a must see movie for people that love scary movies and is not for people with weak constitutions.

Did not end the way I expected...wondering if there will be a sequel.

This movie was not super scary, but had you jump in your seat a couple of times. It kept me curious about how it would come together in the end.
