    Very surprising ending!!!

    by

Took my 10, 13 and 14 to it since they begged me after seeing the trailer. They love scary movies. It kept you enthralled! Would recommend to anyone who likes this genre of movies. We all cried a little at the end.

    Another let down

    by

A movie that looked to be be a real horror classic ends up with a chick flick ending. A few creepy moments mixed in with some 'make me jump' moments and an ending that left my girlfriend crying because she thought the end was sad! This movie had the potential to be a great horror flick but instead ends up disappointing. If it weren't for the ending I could have lived with the rest of the movie but the ending was just incredibly ridiculous. How do you justify a ghost that kills three people with no problem but can't seem to kill off Annabelle and the Uncle? The premise was great but it seemed like the direction got lost. I don't recommend this movie. Man, what a let down.

    Mama

I wasn't expecting this movie to be a good movie due to the fact it was only PG-13, and most scary movies rated PG-13 are not the best. This movie has defiantly changed my mind. It was a very good movie their is one part I'm confused on which is the beginning I felt that they should have explained the beginning a little bit more.

Mama won't leave you crying for your mama

    by

Teen thriller at it's best. Mama could have been a much better film, I feel they left too much on the cutting room floor for anyone who is experienced in the horror genre. Thirty years and counting as a horror fan this movie billed to thrill and was mostly disappointing. The good: Some really fun special effects, enough bumps in the night to get me to jump x2, enough life story to get you connected with the characters. The bad: An ending spoiler built into the script, an already overplayed theme within the genre, a B movie role played by an A list actress in what should be an A list film, opportunities to build upon certain parts that are left dead (no pun intended). Worth the matinee price to get the theater effect, but otherwise I'd wait for the DVD.

    MAMA

    by

The ominous film, MAMA, was filled with excitement, sporadic comedy, and heart racing scenes. The plot was dynamic and creative. An enjoyable film that will have you jumpy.

    Mama

This is a horror movie that is produced by Guillermo del Toro and you can tell his influence . Two little girls are stranded in the woods for five years [they were 1 & 3 years old , so they are now 6 & 8] . Nikolaj plays their uncle , who adopts them . Jessica is his live-in girlfriend that is in a rock band . Megan plays the 8 year old girl and after their ordeal , they have to meet with a psychiatrist , Daniel . Everyone wants to know how the girls survived on their own in the woods and they say that Mama fed & protected them [since no one else was on the premises when they were found , Daniel assumes that Mama is an imaginary friend] . Little does he know . The story is good , their are scary images [this is Not for young kids {or maybe even some adults} because in the opening scenes , a man points a gun at a little girl's head , intending to kill her] and there are lots of 'jump scares' but there seems to be something missing [the ending was kind of weird] .

Scared the life out of me... Until the ending.

    by sam.k

I thought the movie itself was scary as all get out, and at one point I even kicked the lady's chair in front of me it scared me so bad. The ending gets a little sci-fi, though.

    Scary beginning to end!

    by

I am a big fan of scary movies - so I've seen them all. This one I have to say, very good beginning to end! I recommend it! My bf and I were even talking about it the next day. Writer is well known and comes up with some great stuff. This story was very well thought out, some parts very believable, & you feel things for the characters. Of course it has your usual scenes where certain people have death wishes - you're saying - why the heck would he do this and that and at dark too! But, that is what makes a scary movie. Worth seeing and it will scare you where you jump and even yell!

well directed but with stupid ending

There are plenty of good Horror spots and transitions for funny to creepy are done well, but why the director didn't audience test the ending is a mystery to me as a different ending would have garnered an excellent review. As it is there were opportunities to wrap up earlier, or go with a clear sequel tease but he does neither and leaves the audience scratching their heads over poor choice of multiple endings.

    Awesome Movie!

    by

For once there is a character in a horror film that isn't stupid, go Annabel (Jessica Chastain) !!! The child actors are extremely talented, you believe they are the creepy kids. The music definitely scares you. Many cool startling shots. The film also has a beautiful theme which is a plus. This is a must go if you love horror, especially psychological horror.

    Mama Delivers!

A fan of Guillermo's work already, and not disappointed with Mama! Nice to see a movie in this genre that has such high production values, yet still delivers the "gotcha" moments that horror fans crave. Great visual effects (some remniscent of the Ring) and cool story. My friend (a seasoned horror movie junkie) literally jumped out of his seat during one scene. We laughed for a while after that. Nice coup to have Jessica Chastain open your movie, right on the heels of her stellar (possibly Oscar winning?) performance in Zero Dark Thirty. I'm scared of Mama! You will be too!

    Great story

Great, great story. I thought this was just going to be a horror, but its really not and its much more than that. Its not fabuluosly scary and its not full of effects like most of Del Torro's movies. Newer actors rather than seeing the same ole same ole. Beautiful effects.

    Not a Horror Movie!

    by wgowie

After seeing this movie, it wasn't exactly what I expected, but pretty darn close. Story line was pretty corny, cute and weird at times. The beginning leaves you clueless, unless I missed something. All in all, it's more of a suspense thriller, in my opinion. It's not a complete waste of time, but if I knew all this before-hand, I wouldn't of spent the money to go see it in theaters.

    MAMA

I took my two kids with me and we all enjoyed it. It had all my emotions going. It had it scary moments, sad moment, heart wrenching moments. The actors in it were great. Especially the children. I loved watching the youngest child. She played her part very well. The cinematography was very good also. Me and my son sat calmly...well we jumped a little. My daughter jumped and screamed a few times. But over all the movie was very good. I would love to go and see it again. I will wait till it comes out on DVD. I encourage everyone to go and see it. The movie is rated PG-13 I believe. So pay attention to the rating. Enjoy...
