Did not end the way I expected...wondering if there will be a sequel.

This movie was not super scary, but had you jump in your seat a couple of times. It kept me curious about how it would come together in the end.

Sad ending =(, but great movie! Go and see it.

    by

I loved the plot to this whole movie. It was totally worth seeing. Very sad what happened between the sisters toward the end =(, but overall it is a must-see. I also liked the fact that the uncle and his girlfriend became the caretakers/guardians of the girls, especially the woman, because it taught her how to be a caring mother for the girls. I will be buying this one on DVD when its released after the theatre version.

    Loved it

    by

It was exciting and creepy scary. Even my hubby was scared. It's been a long time since I've seen a good scary movie and this nailed it on the head.

    Have you seen Mama??

    by

The movie was alright!! It wasn't like Insidious scary but suspenseful none the less! It takes a lot for me to get scared but definitely a recommendation to see! I jumped a few times & then laughed a few times.. so it's a mixture... I'd give it 3 out of 5 Stars...

    Keep Clenched

    by

Horror movies tend to have a consistent formula which makes them predictable even when scary. Mama actually has some very good variations with the film that make it a different kind of film. The use of lighting and sound help to keep the always imminent presence of danger close at hand. The movie had a good storyline and keeps you at the edge of your seat for the most part looking through your fingers. Overtly terrifying? No. A subtle way that keeps your constantly creeped out and on edge? Definitely. This was a horror movie I felt good paying for to see in the theaters. I recommend it to any fan to take a look.

Even if you don't like scary movies...

Okay, so I am NOT a fan of scary movies, especially ones with a lot of blood and gore (which this one did NOT have). My boyfriend really wanted to see this, so we went yesterday and o. m. g. Even if you are not a fan of scary movies, this is a GREAT movie. The kids in the movie did a great job and the story was interesting. Lots of sounds and movements to keep your heart pumping. Like I said, not a fan of scary movies, but I definitely give this one two thumbs up!

    Good not Great

I am HUGE fan of Guillermo del Toro movies. This move was good; but, I expected more in terms of plot from del Toro. The cinematography was good, the acting was well done and the directing was great.

The story - not so much.

Best scary movie I have seen in a while

It made you jump and scream. I cried a little and when I left the movie theater I was a little out of breath. The ending was not to my liking, but very unexpected.

    Wait for Video

The first 3/4 of the movies was creepy and jumpy. The last 1/4 of movie ruined the entire thing. People around me left towards the end. Others were speechless. I am sorry that I even paid full price to see it.

    Guillermo del Toro

I was force to see this by my friend. I chose Identity Theft last week and he chose Mama this week.

I was dreading seeing this...until I saw "Guillermo del Toro" as executive producer in the opening credits.

Guillermo del Toro name has gravitas with movies such as Pan's Labyrinth, the Hellboy movies, and Blade 2.

I was right as this was actually a very enjoyable horror movie. It scared and creeped me out more than any horror movie since I saw Halloween as a child in the 90s. It wouldn't really be scary if you saw it a second time, but the ending is what convinced me this was a good movie. It was typical with what I expect from a movie that is heavily influenced by del Toro's involvement. Anyone who has seen Pan's Labyrinth will understand.

I heavily recommend this movie, especially while it is still in theaters.

    Mama...

Movie was creepy. My intention was to be creeped out throughout the entire movie. "Mama" was successful. There is room for a sequel, FYI.

    Check it out and enjoy!

    Good Story, Needed More!

    by zuzu13

The movie has a great story base and will definitely make you jump throughout. However, I would have really liked to see more of "Mama's" story and a better ending. The ending was extremely disappointing. The actors were great, especially the little girls!

    it could be better

So this movie is werid and not the werid your looking for when you see this type of movie. It starts off with a man going insane and killing his wife but what gets werid is how "MAMA" takes care of them and how twards the end of the the movie she looks like their mother that was killed when they were little. But however, she was supose to be dead for over 100 years ago so the time line is confusing and she is not that scary to begin with Paranormal Activity has more suspensful moments than this movie. so if you have already seen everything else thats out and you really want to see a sacry movie then see it but dont make it your first option.
