    Good Scares

    by jruggy

This movie was much better than i thought. Being a fan of asian horror, this reminded me of some of the disturbing scenes you would see in movies such as "The Ring" that would keep you on edge. Enjoyed the story as well. Worth seeing.

    MAMA

WOW! A great horror flick! It has been a long time since a "horror flick" really seemed like a great horror flick - but this one was awesome!

Mama won't leave you crying for your mama

    by

Teen thriller at it's best. Mama could have been a much better film, I feel they left too much on the cutting room floor for anyone who is experienced in the horror genre. Thirty years and counting as a horror fan this movie billed to thrill and was mostly disappointing. The good: Some really fun special effects, enough bumps in the night to get me to jump x2, enough life story to get you connected with the characters. The bad: An ending spoiler built into the script, an already overplayed theme within the genre, a B movie role played by an A list actress in what should be an A list film, opportunities to build upon certain parts that are left dead (no pun intended). Worth the matinee price to get the theater effect, but otherwise I'd wait for the DVD.

    Mama

I wasn't expecting this movie to be a good movie due to the fact it was only PG-13, and most scary movies rated PG-13 are not the best. This movie has defiantly changed my mind. It was a very good movie their is one part I'm confused on which is the beginning I felt that they should have explained the beginning a little bit more.

Sad ending =(, but great movie! Go and see it.

    by

I loved the plot to this whole movie. It was totally worth seeing. Very sad what happened between the sisters toward the end =(, but overall it is a must-see. I also liked the fact that the uncle and his girlfriend became the caretakers/guardians of the girls, especially the woman, because it taught her how to be a caring mother for the girls. I will be buying this one on DVD when its released after the theatre version.

Breath of fresh air for this genre. Really scary and riveting yes no chain saw or over the top gore

Having seen some of Del Toro's other films of a similar genre I expected something worth while and decently interesting. This movie surpassed anything I could of expected. From the beginning to end this movie had me. Rarely am I gripping my seat in the first two minutes the way I was for this. I did not come up for air till the credits rolled. There were a couple spots where a couple characters made some obviously dumb choices. But it did not take away from the movie really. Movie is intense and scary. Well done and I really like the musical score.

Good film overall, hated the ending

The film overall was everything I like in a scary movie, suspense, emotion, and lack of gore. I tend to favor movies that are heavier into scaring you by building up suspense and having something jump out when you least suspect it. Versus having a ton of unnecessary gore. What I didn't like was the ending. I felt like it wasn't fully thought through.

    Mama 6.6

    by

I'm on the fence about certain aspects of this movie. Most of it I really enjoyed. Other details I found questionable. Overall I did enjoy it. I give it a 6.6 on my scale.

    Yo Mama...

Okay, before we get to the meat of it, was this the worst movie ever? No. It was creepy during the build up, mainly because it left a lot to the imagination, like horror movies of old. And then, enter the cgi effects.

Now I know I'm in the minority here but things crawling on the floor, short of them being gigantic camel spiders or a man-eating alligator, isn't scary. Especially when it's at best a wig with arms.

I was so disenchanted because 1. I love horror and am still waiting to be scared by a modern day movie. 2. Guillermo Del Toro's name was on it. And I... adore... him.

Is this a movie worth full ticket price? No. Cheap seats on a date? Yeah, it's got some jump.

Overall it starts down a path that can be twistedly dark and ends up with a music number short of a kids movie.

PS: Please stop with the crawling bit... it's just overdone now.

    Good Story, Needed More!

    by zuzu13

The movie has a great story base and will definitely make you jump throughout. However, I would have really liked to see more of "Mama's" story and a better ending. The ending was extremely disappointing. The actors were great, especially the little girls!

Unexpectedly very entertaining and great acting!

I really enjoyed this movie and recommend all to see. Interesting story line, like no other I've seen in the past. Go see it, you wont regret it. Great ending, made me tear up. Ending was unexpected and unpredictable. :)

    On the Fence

I really wanted to see Mama. Critics said it was the most scary movie ever, or something along those lines. I thought the story line was interesting and the kids were interesting. The movie is not as scary as the critics say, there are however some points in the movie that make you jump. The ending has a twist to it that takes you by surprise. The movie left me wondering how things were going to turn out and how there were many holes in the story line. It was an entertaining movie to say the least.

Did not end the way I expected...wondering if there will be a sequel.

This movie was not super scary, but had you jump in your seat a couple of times. It kept me curious about how it would come together in the end.

    Jumpy

I went with my best friend and I just kept jumping. She kept laughing at me too! The only bad part was that this group of people from Bristol (and some from my town) kept talking during the movie. But other than that, it was GREAT!
