    Awesome

    by

If youre looking for a great scare, you must see this movie. It contains great CGI, then you will be happy to know that there is plenty of it.

I personally enjoyed the movie it kept you on the edge of your seat, made you self conscious of the movie surroundings, and had a surprising set of twists thrown in there that left you saying "Whattt????"

    Mama

A little confused in the beginning but figured out what was happening within the first 10 minutes. The story line was excellent, it had great moments of suspense and scary parts however it fell off the cliff on its ending. I felt that there could have been a much better ending then what the movie portrayed. Good acting, great filming and cinematography. This movie, I would not recommend for kids.

    So-So at Best

Very slow start, and a lot of parts that I'm sure were meant to be scary kind of fell flat. It does have great acting by the children, and by Jessica Chastain, playing against type here. There are many spooky parts, and a handful of scarier scenes. The end doesn't wrap anything up and seems like a set up for a sequel.

    Mama

My husband and I took our 14 year-old daughter to see this movie, as our daughter LOVES scary movies. (This movie would probably be too intense for most 14 year-olds.) We all liked the movie very much. The movie was creepy and suspenseful from beginning to end, although in my opinion, the ending left something to be desired. Jessica Chastain was fantastic, and the two little girls' acting was outstanding!

    terrible

This was theee WORST "SCARY" movie i have ever seen in my life. The story was awful!! Corny Corny Corny.

The previews made the movie seem some what interesting. I regret spending money on it!!

    Never again!

    Great Horror Flick

I've seen plenty of poor horror movies... Fortunately this is not one of them! The special effects were on point and had everyone jumping out of there seats on queue.

    Well Done!

    by udayc

This is a good movie with all the requisite chills and thrills that a horror film of this genre should have but it also has a strong emotional story line which really helps to engage you as an audience.
The visualization of "Mama" is really scary and it really affects you deeply when you see her getting revealed little by little on screen.
I would recommend having your partner sleep over the night you watch this movie...else your in for a sleepless night...

cliché, corny, laughable - terrible movie

I was so excited for this movie ever since I saw the trailer. I am a big fan of Guillermo del Toro's work, specially The Orphanage, but Mama did not at all live up to expectations. The beginning started off exciting but as the movie progressed it was cheesy with laughable scares. Literally people in the theater laughed at every "scary" part of the movie. It has every horror movie cliché you can imagine: ghost int he closet, going to the haunted house at night, ect. The ending was completely ridiculous and absolutely comical. Wouldn't even wait to watch this as a rental. Good idea but extremely poorly executed.

    Terribly boring

    by mavram

This was absolute garbage. Not scary at all and painfully boring to watch. Not a good movie choice for someone as talented as Jessica Chastain. The little girls in this movie are adorable. Yet it is not at all scary unless this is your 1st scary movie ever. Very disappointing.

    Fun

    by tvres

Moody, well written and acted, good, if somewhat over the top ending, broke some clichés despite a couple of reviewers here. I mean, come on, it's del toro!

    Having to rewatch a movie

Me and my husband went to see it last night but only got to watch 10 minutes of it. The lid on the cups at theater popped off and coke went all over the place including myself and had to leave. So, now we have to try an go see it again or just wait until it comes out on DVD. That sucks because we were looking forward in seeing this movie.

If you are a fan of Guillermo Del Toro

    by 1World

Go see Mama. The little girls are amazing especially the one that plays Lilly. This kept me on the edge throughout and the ending...well, it illicited some feelings/emotions I was not expecting. Very good movie...don't wait for the DVD.

    Mama

Please run away as fast as you can from this movie! This is the most stupid movie next to "Drag Me to Hell" and even that movie was better than "MaMa". I wouldn't even waste my money to rent the dvd when it comes out, go spend a dollar and change when it comes out on Redbox, that way you won't feel cheated. Story line was ridic, didn't make sense in the beginning and it sure didn't make much sense at the end. This is not even a scary movies for the children, my 7 year old grandson was with me and he said it was dumb. Don't go see it unless all the other movies are filled up and even then don't go. Sorry.
