    Dollar Show Value

This is not my normal type of show, but once a year I am asked to pick one scary movie and this was it for 2013. It has a good creepy/scary factor no blood (great), but the ending ties nothing out. I'm still trying to figure out what happened and if there is to be a part 2 I will not be attending.

    Scary......

    by

I think this was a really creepy, scary movie. I jumped in my seat quite a few times. The little girls were good in their acting and "mama" was awful. She was a real nightmare. I say go you will enjoy it if you are a horror movie buff like me.

    Loved it!!

Creepy movie! I loved the more supernatural aspect of this movie, instead of the blood and gore of most horror movies. I caught myself screaming with the rest of the theater during those surprise moments that make you jump! Loved it! It really makes ya think!

    Had no point

This movie had its scare moments but it had no point. The plot was horrible. I didn't like the movie at all. I did jump because that freaking mama would just pop out of nowhere.

    Mama...More Like Grandmama

    by

Totally tired premise of ghostlike wraith who can't rest in peace until she's allowed to mother her dead infant. Lots of dark rooms, mild shocks which are almost laughable and lackluster performances by Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain and Nicolaj Coster-Wadau(sic). Skip it unless you watch it maybe, on DVD next Halloween.

    Interesting idea, badly implemented

I found the premise to be interesting, but the movie was badly played out. There are a lot of loose ends that don't ever get resolved, and the ending was puzzling. Visually the movie was good, and the acting (especially the little girls) was good, but toward the end the movie gets to be predictable. I don't think they developed the source of the Mama character nearly enough, and I think they didn't use the psychologist character to its potential.

Guillermo del Toro - Another MAsterpice

I think that Guillermo del Toro is a genius of making creepy movies... That movie got lots of jump scenes))) I pretty much sure if you like supernatural genre - you should go... Its a "beautiful" supernatural movie!

    MAMA

I thought the Cinematography in the movie was great... especially the Mercedes driving thru the mountains. Great story line...would have liked to seen the last 5 minutes end differently, but still good. I really enjoy a scary movie without all the blood and guts, and this movie was exactly that. Had the audience jumping out of their seats several times....

    A mother's love never dies...

    by

Mama started out very strong as a snow-cold psychological drama, then subtly shifted into an elegant mystery. The cinematography and scoring greatly contributed to the dark aura of the film. Praises granted, the final act was embarrassing: drawn out and cliched. The ending was completely implausible and raised more questions than answers. Despite the finale, the first 80% of the film was masterful; stylish, genuinely emotional and crushingly atmospheric. The main actors turned in fine performances, namely Chastain as the reluctant mother-to-be.
3.5/5. (If the last 20 minutes of the film were less ridiculous, I would gladly grant Mama a 4.5/5, seriously).
It is worth seeing? Absolutely, it's damn scary.
Will you enjoy the ending? I really doubt it.

Oh, and as a side-note, don't take young kids to see this, please. The lady in front of our group took her poor little 7 year old. Needless to say, the child walked out within the first 20 minutes!

Unexpectedly very entertaining and great acting!

I really enjoyed this movie and recommend all to see. Interesting story line, like no other I've seen in the past. Go see it, you wont regret it. Great ending, made me tear up. Ending was unexpected and unpredictable. :)

    Mama

It wasn't as scary as they made it seem, but it was really a good movie. You seemed a little lost at the beginning of the movie and then it takes shape. I was really bummed at the end (won't tell you) but was glad the older one made it. Was a little perplexed how someone could live off of cherry seeds for five years but...I'm not a doctor. Guess I could look it up on google.

    Good Horror Flick

    by

I must say I enjoyed Mama. I did not think I would enjoy it be it that most horror movies are such a disappointment but I can honestly say it kept me interested and I jumped quite a few times. My daughter did not jump as much as I did but she enjoyed the film too. I also got a kick out of hearing other moviegoers scream out which is a very rare. I would go and see it again.

    Hilariously Scary.

Seeing how scared everyone got made me laugh and got me more relaxed, but that doesn't mean I didn't jump. It definitely has parts you wouldn't expect and you would never expect the ending. It's crazy and has many twists. I would say go. If you are a horror freak and pick apart every aspect of the movie, you MAY not enjoy it, buuuuut I think it was great.

    Mama

I wasn't expecting this movie to be a good movie due to the fact it was only PG-13, and most scary movies rated PG-13 are not the best. This movie has defiantly changed my mind. It was a very good movie their is one part I'm confused on which is the beginning I felt that they should have explained the beginning a little bit more.
