This is not a great film. Some parts that are meant to be humorous were milked too long and it became tedious, like Val's attempt to overcome his "performance problems" early in the picture. In addition, there is a lot that is derivative from older movies. For example, the camaraderie between two old gangsters that life has passed by, see "Tough Guys" with Lancaster and Douglas. For the final scene of the film, see Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, with Newman and Redford. That being said, watching Pacino and Walton work is an acting lesson all by itself, and it looked like they enjoyed playing off each other. Would I add the DVD to my collection? Probably not. Did I enjoy the hour and a half watching it in the theater? Yes, definitely.

Stand Up Guys is a great movie

My husband and I found it very entertaining. The story was great and it kept us engaged until the very end. The acting was first class. Brought quite a few laughs with the audience throughout the movie. I found it a very entertaining movie. Highly recommend it.

Unexpectedly good!

I expected a movie that was predictable and cliched but this movie was really well done. Like an indie movie with great characters, great acting, quirky story, There were some really touching moments and an unapologetic look at aging. It was hilarious and dramatic. Loved it. Would watch it again.

Good Chemistry!

Pacino, Walken, and Arkin were great together in this flick. It is by no means a masterpiece but it kept the audience involved and had a great plot. There is not much violence, but it is the story that captivates you. What would you do if you were in jail for 28 years and you finally were let out? Friends will stick together by all means. Go check it out. Great actors

PRETTY FUNNY++++DEFINITELY WORTH SEEING.

Great movie to see....lots of laughs. Al Pacino was fantastic, as was Christopher Walken, and Alan Arkin. Nice to see older guys trying to reinact their youth! Not too long to get boring, and kept us amused the whole time. Rather heart-warming.

I am a fan of both Pacino and Walken found the movie slow going but entertaining the ending was unexpected and left me thinking "Stand Up Guys TWO"?

Reminds you what real actors can do.

Watching Arkin and Walken reminds you what real actors are like. And Pacino actually tried to not just play "Pacino" for a change. Plus it's great to watch a film that shows the back side of being a "gangster." Very enjoyable.

Stand up Guys...A Disappointment

I love all 3 of the actors in this movie, but found the script to be very broing & thoughtless. Everytime a line came up where we thought the movie was going to pick up turned out to be the only good line in the scene. Stop writing these pathetic roles for older actors...they are still better than all of the actors (most of which are just pretty boy celebrities that have no talent) of today & are still able to carry a good script...they dont need these token roles to keep them going. It was the most boring...seemed like 5 hours of my life.

It was OK. Wouldn't recommend it to any of the people I know. Only one or two good moments; the rest, juvenile humor. One hard-on too many.

I love all the actors in the movie. I do. but these guys bless their heart could barely walk around in each scene. NO, no no, no..you go see it and you will realize you donated your money to them. sitting in the theater, its a tough decision to finish the movie or get up and leave
